week long STALLLLLLLL! any advice?

Recommended Posts

I need some help...I had my surgery 11/30/2012 and so far I've lost 50 pounds. a steady 50 pounds, at first fast, but now about 2 pounds per week now. I am on a low carb diet as I cannot handle any amount of carbs so I try to only have 10 - 15 carbs per day or none at all. I eat very well though. I drink (on most days) 1 liter of Water. I often don't have time for a workout but I'm active through out the day with kids and working outside in flower beds digging, hauling heavy things, etc . I work hard. This last week I decided to step things up to speed things up. So I've been extra strict. But instead of my body reacting by dropping weight I've accomplished a stall. a stubborn, stuck, relentless stall. I'm scared to try other diets as I gain weight very easily and it seems hard to loose it. so I'm not sure what to do. I even only ate baked chicken and eggs for three days lol (I don't recommend that) to try to shock my body. but nope. it wouldn't budge. HELP ME!!! I need to loose this last 25 pound, I have weddings coming up in June and July I need to go to and I really want to look good.

Try drinking even more Water and increasing the calories for a day or two to see if you can break the stall...your body may be thinking it's starving and need to horde all the water/fat that it can

You were sleeved in November and are thinking of "dieting"? There are thousands of stall posts on this site, it is quite shocking to be honest. Your body is ever changing after surgery until you have reached your ideal wieght and fitness level that you then want to find your balance and keep it there. That is when things could level out. Try starting some kind of exercise program, whether a walk at night or even doing the lunge challenge or squat challenge (google it). Also, I think most of us have/had some very bad habits with food. There could be one or two things you dont think are hurting you or werent at some point but are now, i.e. processed meats, flavored coffee creamers... Drink more Water, log what you eat again and learn your body.

More Water for sure. A liter of Water is only about half of what you need.

good luck. :)

Increase your carbs. I had surgery the same time as you but was much heavier. I also have diabetes and am on insulin. I eat 100 or less of carbs. This will break your stall.

Mokee, that's not a fact. But you could be right. I'd say more Water is a perfect place to start. A liter is only 32 oz, you need 64. I don't meet that, I get about 50 a day, and I can't seem to get more yet. I'm only 6 weeks. Also it's not all Water. Decaf tea, a Protein drink, a g2, etc.

I wouldn't up carbs until the water thing doesn't work or sure.

Also, a week, in my opinion, is not a relentless stall. It's only a week. Give it time.

Oh. Also. I'd throw one or two higher calorie days in there/week. That usually throws a body off somehow and gets that motor running again.

thanks I agree. i forgot to mention that I can only get down 1 liter because then I cant eat because my stomachs too full from the water I drank. I did a risky thing and only ate carbs for 1 day in hopes to shock my immune system and then went back to low carb the next. the reason it was risky was because carbs make me gain weight like crazy even low amounts. but this method worked this time, I went down 1.5 pounds the next day. Ive started exercising regularly as well so I hope that this speeds it up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
