How long did you have to be on them? I asked the doctor if I could do it without the meds but he said not likely. One of my siblings has a pain pill drug addiction and it terrifies me. I know it doesn't mean I'll end up with one of course, but I really hate the thought of them because of what our family has gone through. Thoughts?

I stopped pain meds as soon as I got home after two days in hospital. Ot sur if this is unusual, but before surgery I had a slight addiction to a prescribed Arthritis pain killer. No meds. That's what this is about or me except life long Vitamins. Off of everything. Ood luck

Well it depends I definitely needed them while in the hospital (2 days) . I was sent home with liquid Lortab and "needed" it for a few days but it was not until a couple of weeks later (2nd refill) that I noticed that I was having an issue... I found I was using it only at night to relax and feel good. Kinda like I used food before... I never had a problem with drugs or alcohol. But my mother is an alcoholic (recovering) and my brother was a functioning drug addict.

I'm glad you are thinking about this ahead of time, I did not.

I was off the pain meds almost 24 hours before I left the hospital (I had a 2 night stay). They gave me a prescription when I left for a liquid percocet, but they only wanted me filling that if tylenol wasn't doing the trick. The first day after surgery was uncomfortable, and it was good to have the option open.

I only needed the pain meds for a few days outside of the hospital. The only real pain I had was the gas pain from them blowing up your stomach. The incision pain was minimal. I was told to walk and it would help and it did.

Thanks guys, I'm definitely going to try and only do Tylenol when I get home. If I'm in terrible pain I'll take the meds. I have taken pain meds before so I can see how one can get addicted to them. I go in Apr 17th. I'll update as to how I do. :)

I only took two doses of narcotics and then had non-narcotic pain meds. I was fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
