I am currently on my pre-op diet... I am struggling with the Protein Shakes ... I do not like the taste of them at all... What Protein shakes out there that you guys have tried that are decent in taste? Thanks:)

I didn't use shakes during pre- or post-op diets. My favorite foods/drinks were: nonfat plain yogurt, Carnation Breakfast drink with milk, Jello with fruit flavored Protein Powder mixed in during preparation.

Hey Nicole, I'm Nicole too :). My fav was Chike. I think you have to get it online. It's in a powder form. Another one I like they sell at target and wegmans. It's pre-made called EAS advantedge 17 G Protein 3 net carbs and 110 cal. Other people on here recommend shakes from SAMs. I'm not sure what they are called but they seem highly recommended. And they also recommend powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I can't stomach them though. Good luck to you!!

Premier Protein shakes aren't bad (from Costco) The chocolate ones mostly taste like chocolate milk. vanilla are meh...they have strawberry available online but I'm afraid to spend any money on them for fear they're nasty.

Chike - anything but banana...and they have a really good iced coffee!

Bariatric Fusion - all have been good so far

Syntrax Nectar - especially like the iced tea, lemonade and fruit flavors...nice change from vanilla/chocolate

I have tried almost all the Syntrax Nectar flavors and the only one I liked was the chocolate truffle. I have tried MRM vanilla, eww. About time cinnamon, its alright. I have a huge tub of it so I will finish it eventually. Atkins Vanilla/chocolate is good, maybe a little too sweet. I enjoy Premier Protein from Costco/Sams club in chocolate I haven't tried another flavor but its actually enjoyable, not just choke it down. I also almost had a moment of weakness while grocery shopping but instead found OhYeah! ready to drink Protein. It has a higher calorie count then Premier but is equally good and packs 32g protein. I am waiting for my Unjury chicken broth to get here, and am heading to GNC in the next day or two to get Isopure for my post-op. If you go to different sites they usually sell sample packets, unjury does, chike I believe does, about time. I ordered Syntrax nectar samples from bjsbariatrics I'm soo glad I did and didn't waste money on a big tub of it.

Hi- i bought the Isopure ready to drink at GNC. So far tried the coconut. It was yuck so I watered it down & added the dasani pinapple coconut Water flavoring to it. Made it drinkable.

I read about adding the Torani sugar free syrups to tgem. I did some research $7.95 per 750 ml on the torani website. Much more on Amazon once you add in the shipping. Ugh.

Looking into world market and wegmans next.

Yes I've tried like every Isopure flavor. And even tried putting a crystal light packet in a couple. I can get it down but the after taste is soooooo gross!! I gave up on them

Hi,

I have been down this road too. I had sleeve surgery in 2008. I lost 105 pounds and have kept it off. I love and drink Premier Protein drinks. You can get them at costco or Sams Club. I still to this day drink one every morning for Breakfast. They have chocolate and vanilla. Try putting the Protein Drink in a blender with a few ice cubes and that dilutes it some too. If I get the vanilla, I put a few frozen strawberries in the blender with the Protein drink. I really like the Premier Protein, and they have 30 grams of protein in each drink box. They come in a red and white box, and there are 18 drink boxes in the carton and they are about $25.00. It may take drinking 3 or 4 of them to see if you like them.

I hope that is helpful, and I am always around if you have any more questions.

Suzanne

Me again, I wrote this a while ago and it might be helpful to you.

I have been asked so many times on this board about what Protein drinks are good and some sample meals that I used during the first month and things I did after the 1st month. These are very valid questions and I know when I first started out I had all the same questions. Again this is long so please print this out if you would like.

Protein drinks.< /span>

My all-time favorite is:

Premier Protein Drink. It comes in 11 oz. drink boxes already mixed. There are 30 grams of protein in each box, 160 calories per box, 1 gram of sugar and 5 grams of carbs. The flavor I buy is Chocolate—that is all I can find at costco. I get mine at costco and I understand that you can get them at Sam’s Club too. You can order these on line at Costco and Sam’s club. They are also available at this Web Site. http://www.premiernutrition.com/product.html

I pay about $25.00 for a carton of 18 drink boxes at Costco in the city where I live. I drink one of these every morning for my Breakfast and nothing else and it has been almost 3 years since my “sleeve surgery.”

The next Protein Drink that I have tried is called:

Matrix 2.0 Mint Cookies made by Syntrax. You can check this out on this Web Site.

http://www26.netrition.com/syntrax_matrix_page.html

The cost for 2.16 lbs. is $22.99 plus postage. Item # 39-0963

On www.ObesityHelp.com they have a lot of different information about Protein Drinks and they list so many different brands and people have rated the ones they really like check this site out. It has a lot of information about almost all the protein drinks that we find out there.

I hate Isopure. It does NOT taste good to me—I know that some people like it. I call it Isopuke, and it reminds me of pond scum. I have been told if you buy it at a GNC and don’t like it and still have your receipt they will refund your money if it hasn’t been more than 30 days since you purchased it from them. I guess they will do that with protein powers too—ask before you buy what their policy is about returning something if you don’t like it. So if you want to try it remember this. There always seems to be a GNC in most Malls.

I think the nectar product line is good for taste. The sweets are really good with Cookies and cream, vanilla bean and many more. So good!

If you have a restaurant supply store like Cash n Carry or Smart n Final near you, they sell a number of the different SF flavoring syrups by the bottle: Torani and DaVinci are two that I like. It tends to be substantially less expensive there, and no, you don't have to be a business to shop there.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
