Hello fellow sleevers. I had my 7 week checkup today (missed my 6 wk because I was in the ER). I am down 35 lbs so far. Not too bad. I was doing absolutely GREAT until last Wednesday. I woke up at 3 am in horrible pain that I knew was a kidney fine. I went to the ER and it was confirmed to be a kidney stone. Of course I let them know I was sleeved and was freaking out my pains could be sleeve related. A CT showed my sleeve was fine. Thank goodness. The stone passed and I thought all was ok.. Until Sunday. Yep I was back in the ER with another kidney stone! Ultrasound revealed I have 3 more stones in my left kidney and 1 in my right. I am not looking forward to passing those. I have been so nauseous for a week now. I have not been able to eat, take my Vitamins, get my Protein in, or drink my Water. I am existing on SF Popsicles. I literally feel like I have just gone back 5 weeks. I hope this passes and things will get back to where they were. Has anyone else had issues with kidney stones? I have been reading up on the subject and although I have a history of stones, it seems diets high in protein lends itself to stones. The pain is unbearable and I can't do this all my life. Any help anyone can offer??

Sorry to hear you are dealing with kidney stones i got one at 2-3 months post op. it was so painful. I was told that a drastic diet or change in diet can cause stones. I hope you are not too uncomfortable and pass the others without too much pain. Sorry I can offer more help I just sympathize with you...

I was sleeved 12/17/12. I just had my 4th kidney stone since surgery and feel like I am getting another. I have only had 1 before my surgery. They did an ultrasound a couple of months ago and didn't see any. I wonder how long they take to form?

I ended up with kidney stones about 6 or 7 weeks also. Thankfully they passed on their own. I could tell bc it looked like someone added pepper to my urine. I do not think that Protein per se is the issue--it has more to do with staying very, very well hydrated if you are prone to stones. My surgeon's office recommends enough Fluid in this case to *output* 64 oz of fluid minimum per day, which means drinking at least 100-120 oz of water/day. Also, they gave me a low oxalate diet to follow, so while I had the stones, I didn't drink tea, cut down on dark green veggies, decreased soy (which wasn't easy since I'm a vegetarian and want to make sure I get my protein), etc. Now that I am feeling better, I am being less restrictive with the low oxalate diet (except that I limit my amount of hot tea) and I drink tons of Water. That seems to be working for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
