BuckeyeMom....I hope you are doing well. Congrats on starting your new life.

I am having my sleeve gastrectomy on Tuesday 4/8/14 by Dr. Sonnanstine at Riverside.

I am excited but nervous at the same time. All of the posts here and all of the videos on YouTube have been immensely helpful.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice!

Hi there, I'm in my beginning stages too, also going to Mt. Carmel. I haven't had my first surgeon appointment yet, but received my letter last week that I was accepted into the program and I sent my $300 in. Hopefully will get a call for an appointment this week.

Do you live in Columbus? I'm in Chillicothe. Would love to keep in touch.

Hi bitter42! So glad you reached out! I have one more appointment left for my dietician visit. I have to have a sleep test and a pulmonary test and do the dietician food class and off to insurance I go. Very excited for what is ahead of me. If they dont call you by mid next week, I would call them. Have you chosen your surgeon yet? I have Dr. Page. So far my experience has been great. Your first appointment you will meet with the coordinator, Tiffany who will go over all of your next steps. I am looking forward to keeping in touch and sharing experiences. You never know, we could end up being scheduled together! Let's keep each other encouraged!

Talk to you soon!

Did you pick your surgeon or did they pick for you? Dr. Page spoke at the seminar I went to and he seems nice and very knowledgeable.

Something I was curious about--all the pre-surgical testing; is it determined by the surgeon or the insurance? Like, I've noticed some people on here have had a sleep test or pulmonary clearance, or an endoscopy, but some have not. Seems cardiac clearance, psychiatric evaluation, and NUT appointment are definitely standard, but wasn't sure what to expect in regards to the other tests.

So glad I've met someone going to Mt. Carmel too!

They picked my surgeon, but you can choose if you want. I had to do the psych visit, the sleep test, and the pulmonary clearance. The pulmonary because I was a smoker so I think they just want to double check my lungs for safety. The surgeon team actually will pick what your requirements are along with what is required through your insurance co.

:) Good Wednesday morning everyone. I am in Lancaster Ohio about half an hour east of Columbus. I had my sleeve 2/3/14 with Dr Thomas Sonnanstine at Riverside Hospital. It was a great experience, no problems at all and they treat you like your truly special (as we all are) I am just slightly two months post op and down 39 lbs on my last weigh in. I am looking forward to the weather breaking because frankly I was considering moving to Florida. THis past winter here in Ohio was horrid wasn't it? Would love to know if you all have set up a meet and greet. Looking forward to keeping updated with everyone and congrats on your decision for this journey and becoming happy and healthy.. :D

Congrats on your awesome weight loss! I was just in Lancaster Saturday for a birthday party. I hope to be losing big time too in the next few months too--still waiting to actually get started!

Just this morning, I noticed my account was debited my initial fee that I mailed in last week; hopefully I'll be called for my first surgical appointment soon! Fingers crossed.

Awesome news bitter42! So excited for you. Welcome Kasee58! Great work on the weight loss! Yes, the winter here was horrible. I dont know if people are getting together to meet for support. I'd definite be open to it. The more support through this journey, the better. And yes, we are all special!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
