I totally agree with your assessment of Lakisha and Melinda's performances being boring. It isn't that they aren't good singers, they are, but ho-hum. Been there, seen that!

Well I look at it this way... Remember that one girl.. what was her name? It is eluding me for the moment. From last year I think... Oh for cryin out loud.. I have to go to that website now... brb

ok. Mandisa...

Remember her? she was an excellent singer but only had one style she could fit into.

Yep. We called her Man Diesel, just for fun.

I don't get all the retro stuff that Lakisha and Melinda do. I mean they sound good, but they need to get down! The closest thing to it last night was when the one gal did the No Doubt, Gwen Stefani song.

I liked that Gwen Stefani advised them to stop doing all those runs. To me, too much of that makes me think they can't hold a note for a decent amount of time without going off-key. I know it's really popular (especially with Idol viewers) but too much of that really turns me OFF!

My point was that I remembered her... But not her name, and I think that is how Melinda and Lakisha will turn out...

I think Melinda and Lakisha could (could) be great if they changed it up a little bit from week to week. Lakisha did move a little more last night, but not enough. She usually just stands and sings. Melinda is really good and she does move around. Like one of the judges said...she reads the lyrics and understands them and then sings them to us. I just want her to blow the top off next week. She really is my favorite as far as talent goes. Jordin was cute last night...but didnt' really show off her singing to me.

I like to see the ones who are improving week to week and showing that they really want to win and really do have talent.

Still couldn't look at Phil.....cap didn't cover bald head, big ears and eyes enough for me.

lol

Last night my wife commented on how much better he was than last time, and I mentioned to her that it is because he tucked his ears into his hat... they weren't as much of a distraction... she couldn't stop laughing after that... It is true. those ears are a distraction.

I agree that Lakisha and Melinda have great voices, but are boring. I get tired of all the slow ballads and prefer when they step things up a bit and rock-out.

I think Jordan is going to go far. I also really love Blake a lot! I think he has a unique voice and style and will hopefully make the finals. And, at the risk of being ridiculed, I am officially rooting for my local boy, PHIL!! Big eyes, ears and all, he is such a sweetheart and I thought he really stepped it up last night and sounded awesome.

As far an Sanjaya, no worries. My husband has announced that if he doesn't get voted off this week, he is personally making a trip to California and escorting him home. That kid seems sweet, although the hair last night scared the hell out of me, but he simply cannot sing. It is truly an injustice to those who do have talent.

Hell yeah Sanjaya won. You see they didn't even hype it up. They said he stays and that is that. Americon Idol is going to be forced to officially come out and say something about Howard. Both Simon and Seacrest basically came out and said it last night.

Keep Sanjaya on, He is my next American Idol

Get the phones ready. We can do it again next week. If anyone dosen't want to watch and just vote for him, go check out HowardStern.com and you can find the phone # posted.

DAMN BETH O is TALL !!!!!!!!!!

Sanjaya is soooo Gay. He's going to have a really hard time ahead of him if he wins. I feel so bad for the Gay performers like Clay Aiken and others who feel they have to hide their identities.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
