Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody,

Dee, belated happy birthday. Hope it was fun. Mine is Thursday - 48, i keep telling myself at least I will be in great shape by the time I'm 50!

Happy Birthday, Denver!! I'm right behind you, girlie. I'm 48 in September. I'm going to my 30th high school reunion this Saturday night.:) And next Saturday I'm getting together with my college roommates. :)

Green: great job!

He is sleeping and eating well. Just no more chasing sticks and balls: the labrador's reason for living!:crying:

I'm so glad Tucker is on the mend. Bless his heart about the ball chasing. Barkley's major ball game days are behind him too, but he still carries around a tennis ball most of the time just for the hell of it.

For all you "youngsters" out there . . . you're so lucky that you've been able to do this while you're still young and have time to think about getting your body looking FABULOUS!!! Those of us of a "certain age" (only speaking for myself here) will be pretty happy to improve our health, get rid of some of the aches and pains, and look better in clothes. I have no illusions that I will ever look good without clothes. Of course, I never have, so that won't be much of a switch!! I will definitely want PS when I'm done though. I hate my "apron" and the boobs are already pretty pathetic. If I could get those 2 things taken care of, I think I'd be pretty darned thrilled!

I agree wholeheartedly, Mini! I wish I had done this 10 years ago! I need an apron job, boob lift and bat wings clipped -- maybe one day when I win the lotto.

Green! Way to go on your loss this week! I'm with you on your response to Denver's question about letting others in on being banded. Lots of dysfunction in my extended family. My immediate family members know and I plan to keep it that way if at all possible. I have one sister who knows who I didn't plan on telling -- thanks to my son -- and she is prone to spilling the Beans at the drop of a hat. So, I don't know how long it will be a private matter. But until then -- my band, my business.

Everyone! thank you so much for the Birthday wishes! AND for the support of me -- not feeling so good about being 45! I love you guys!

I just got back into town! I had a nice visit with family and friends. My bestfriend said such sweet things! We had a bit of drama with my ex and his current girlfriend. He really has hideous taste in women! I often wonder how in the world did he find me!! Ha!!! My BF is still just as dreamy as he was before and after spending some time with the ex - perhaps more dreamy! I am so lucky to have him in my life. He's just a really good person.

Mal, how is your son's friend? I was shocked to hear how things happened. Poor guy! I can't imagine what he was going through! My Goodness! I will continue my prayers for you, your family and your son's friend.

Deb, I'm so happy to hear that Tucker is acting more like himself doing those figure 8's! Your vet sounds wonderful!

Denver, If I had it to do over again, I'd only tell those whom I am closest to. I told everyone. AND I do regret that. Most are very very supportive, but sometimes people, I do not even know come up to me and ask how much I've lost. With the way my weight fluctuates, they sometimes roll their eyes - when they hear I haven't lost more! I do not know what they expect, but I think most think the weight loss is like RNY. Happy Birthday July Twin!!!

Mini, I'm like you, I know that I will never look good naked! BUT I'm hoping that I don't look as bad as I do now. The more I lose, the worse I look! I am going to have to have a lot of plastic surgery! My new motto, "It's better to feel good than to look good."

Greenie! You're so close to weighing less than your DH! I will be at goal by the time, I weigh what my BF weighs! If I remember correctly, I think he weighs my goal weight! So when I get there, I'll achieve two goals!

Brandy! Glad to see you're back with us! Sounds like you're doing a lot of traveling! Congrats on starting that Pouch Test Diet! Good for you! You are so close to goal, I can imagine it must be very frustrating! Don't let it get you down! You're going to get there! Are you going to be at the BBQ on Saturday?

Lifesaver, I just can't understand why our bodies do what they do! Mini is dealing with it right now too! So is Brandy! It makes no sense!!! Just don't give up! I was reading about the Carb Cycling diet the other night. It made sense to me. When I hit my next plateau, I'm going to try it. Are you going to the BBQ?

Bella! Please tell Kaci thanks! AND tell her Happy Birthday too! From me!!

Shelbi! Hi Sweet Girl! I hope you're doing well! When are you going to get your next fill?

Someone asked about Fills and reaching the Green Zone. I've had two fills, one was 3.3 at 8 weeks out and one was 0.25 at about 4 mos out. (i think) Anyway, I am now in the Green Zone. I think a lot of it has to do with my High BMI. I think there is just so much fat around my stomach that the band itself gives restriction! I don't know! I just know, I feel satiated for 4-5 hours after eating my one cup of food. Tom says that means Green Zone! Tom said that some may get there with 3 mls in their band and others may need 12 mls in a 14 ml band. It is entirely individual!

Well, I promise to update our challenge post with everyone's weights - tomorrow!

Sleep sweet everyone!

xxxoooo,

dee~

Glad to hear Tucker and Mals friend are doing better.

Still freaked out a bit about Mals friend though...espically having 4 boys who are in a constant wrestling match. Mal, if they can ever pin point a move or what he did to cause this...please tell me!!!

How are things for you Mini??

Things are good. I took your suggestion and upped my calories yesterday, and today the scale was down a pound. Today I'll decrease my calories by the same amount. YAY!!!

The new little one is doing well, but has a lingering case of kennel cough that is really awful. She's on three different meds . . . poor little thing.

I'm getting my first fill next Tuesday! woohoo! I think after that I'll try to find someone here though. While I love Dr. K., I think I would be much more prone to keeping up on fills if I could do it locally.

How's your pouch test going?

Wow Mini, are you almost a month out now?

Your poor baby and her Kennel cough! Poor Baby. I have heard of that before and it sounds bad.

Brandy,

It's hard to not say, "I told you so!" I actually never told him, he wouldn't ever find anyone as good as me, but I certainly thought it enough! I do hope the best for him, but he's become his worst enemy!

My new BF is so sweet and so caring, I feel I have upgraded in a Big Way! He's a dream come true!

Yep, I am four weeks out today!!! I can't believe it. I remember that the 4 weeks BEFORE surgery took forever . . . the 4 weeks since have flown by. I wish I would have lost more weight, but that's okay.

Kennel cough is like a really really bad dog cold with a croupy cough. She sounds awful. I'm sure Keeley will probably get it now too, as the vaccinations against are pretty much useless. Sigh.

You're welcome Sweetpea!

I am continuing my 100 day count down to a more balanced person.

It hasn't been easy, but this morning, I made a new promise to myself. Back to the basics! I love the band and being able to return to the basics when I get off track. We are only human... and we need to have a tool that is forgiving! The band is forgiving.

I love it!

I am having the worst mood swings!!! :cursing:My poor DH is the best man in the world I SWEAR!! One minute I am laughing :lol:and the next I'm crying my eyes out:crying:!! I wonder if I should go on birthcontrol to help with the hormones, among other things. They are really bad. Anyone else get the killer mood swings?:):cursing::rolleyes2::cursing::tt2::cursing::eek:

Sunshine!

You can ask anyone here - I went through that same problem! Oh my Goodness, I felt suicidal and I'm not exaggerating. It was really bad. I talked to my doctor about it and we both decided it was most likely hormonal. I didn't start on anything and in time, it got much better! I had stopped my meds for ovulation and I felt that was part of it. I started them hoping it would improve and I couldn't get ahold of it. Thankfully, eventually, it improved.

Good Luck! My thoughts are with you!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
