Recommended Posts

Yay, Missmona! You made it! Not that we thought you wouldn't, we just worry! Its been an adventure for me to learn to drive in this stuff! And I was a train wreck too before...So I think you are just normal! You'll make it through the nerves...you really will! I cried for no reason before hand, and was so uptight! When you're all done, you'll be so glad! You'll really be taking charge of something that seems so unmanagable! You can do it! We'll be rooting and praying for you! Just post here as much as you need too. I posted like every 10 minutes the day of my surgery...heehee. And it was at 2:30 I think? Thats a lot of posts!

YOU CAN DO IT, MISSMONA! SOON YOU'LL BE A BANDSTER! WOOHOO!:whoo:

I had my pre-op appointment today with Dr. K, he really made my feel comfortable. I am scared but determined to make it through successfully. I have been balling like a baby several times in the last few days, I am sure it is my nerves.

Something hilarious happened tonight that I have to tell you all about. I could not tell this to anyone but all of you because I know some of you will understand the entire scenario...........here it goes..........

I am too fat to put in the Dolcolax suppository that Dr.K prescribed for me. I can reach back there, but just barely. So.....I asked my DH to put it in for me. I have to set the scene so you all can appreciate the humor in the situation.

We are in a hotel room, directly across from the elevator. I assume the position for him to insert the suppository, he puts on the rubber glove and he starts putting it in. :) Well, half of it broke off and he was having issues getting it all in. So, he is getting frustrated and started speaking very loudly to me saying, :yell:"Hold your butt cheeks apart so I can get it all in. Stop squeezing your butt cheeks, it keeps sliding out. I need you to relax so I can get it all in." Then, he inserts it to the END of his finger, wayyyyyy too deep and I yelped, "Ow, you put it in too far, that hurts." He replied, "Well, your holding your butt cheeks too tight and I have to make sure it all goes in.":argue:

Can you imagine what the people at the elevator must have been thinking?????? I know they heard us because I could hear them laughing. Well needless to say, I started cracking up and of course the darned thing didn't stay in! He has to do this with the anti-nausea suppositories for the next week! :faint: At this rate, I may forget all about the pain in my incisions because I am being sodomized every 8 hours by suppositories. :mmph:

So, I hope I didn't offend anyone with this personal story but I thought it was too funny to keep to myself.:D

That is a great story!!!

I love it!

I can only imagine what they were thinking at the elevator! Yikes!

I was also afraid I wouldn't be able to put mine in so I brought some gloves home for my daughter to do it. She was horrified! She kept saying, "Please don't make me do that!" Luckily for me and for her especially, I am tall and have very long arms, so I was able to do it myself! I told my friend who was banded just recently that my daughter was begging not to do it and she said she'd be happy to come and do it for me! I told her husband, now that is what you call a true friend! I told her, if you do that for me, I'll buy you a Starbucks Coffee! (honestly, she'd deserve an entire Starbucks franchise!)

Thanks for sharing that great story!!!

Just think next year at this time, you'll be able to put anything you need to in that area!!! Hopefully, you won't need to put anything!

Give your husband a big kiss and ask him, "Honey, was it good for you too?"

Hi Everyone,

Sonny boy is out of the hospital! Yeah. Thanks for the CF reference. I don't know if that is it. He doesn't have any of the usual symptoms. He had added Zanax the week before to cope with anxiety. I think there was some chemical that tipped him over, but his recovery was much faster this time.

I do hope we can all meet tomorrow. There is a rumbling about snow late Thursday night. I'll check the latest report.

Hope all the newbies are recovering with and without suppositories (great story) - ya gotta laugh Mona.

Hugs hope to see you tomorrow.

Michelle

Glad your baby is out, Dynamo! And so glad he's feeling better. That was a quick recovery...yay for him!

Mona! OMG:omg:! Thats a riot! What a sweet hubby you have!

And those people will have quite the story to tell!

VABandster~ so glad you made it here safely! And you will have to share tomorrow how you were able to get round trip tickets for free! Wonder if I can do that to Vegas????:)

Well, my scale is still moving, and I couldn't be happier. I know, its just a number, but it makes me feel better to see it go down. I only have 4 more pounds to reach my January 4th goal. Woo hoo! Now if I can be good throughout the rest of the holidays....and next week starts the mass pile of people that are coming...my brother, his girlfriend, my nephew and his new wife, mom and dad inlaw, and my brother in law and his wife....oh my! With that comes all the sweets, dinners out, dessert pies...oh crap! And all that crap food goes down so easy....

I'll end on that note, thinking about a nice chunk of peppermint bark.:hungry:

Hey Brandy, Tarheel, Miss Mona -- Welcome to the banded side!

Glad your son is out of the hospital, Michelle.

You guys have fun at RR tonight and post pictures for the wannabes, please!

I am swamped with work (we're production based and it's the end of the year; goes without saying), but I'm still reading and sending out positive thoughts, etc. You guys make my day!

Send some snow and cold weather this way -- it was 78 degrees here yesterday. It so totally sucks for Christmas!

LMAO....That was too funny about the suppositories!!! I Have to say though....I never used the ones I got and I was fine!!! I just kept on the anti-nasuea (sp?) patch they put on me in surgery and left it on for a few days after and had no issues! Just a thought! ;-) SOOO Glad I didn't even attempt to use them! lol

I'm about to hop in the shower and head over to see Dr. K!! I can't WAIT!!! I'll be so glad to finally get tight again and see that scale moving! Woo hooo!!!! WHY OH WHY Did I wait so long to do this!?? LOL

Look forward to seeing you all tonight at RR!!! Hopefully it won't snow til after!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
