How much food can you eat?

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks post-op and eating soft/puree foods. I am wondering how many calories everyone is eating per day, how many ounces or cups and how far out from surgery are you? I am afraid I am eating too much.

I am 16 months out and still depends on what the food is. Many rich foods 4-6 bites. Cottage cheese 1/2 cup, 1/2 grilled hamb., one chicken leg. Now micro popcorn 1/2 bag easy. I remember starting out and 2-3 bites of anyhting and I was full. It's amazing how everyone is different. Lost 62# so far. Got another 9# to go should be there by June. Good Luck

My surgery was Jan 24,and i;m only able to eat a few spoons full, but i set my timer to remind my self to eat every two hours even when i'm not hungry, because if i listen to my stomach i would never eat, i had a stall, and i was told to increase my intake,so i listen and it's working, now the scale is moving again..

Are you on an antacid? Some people are helped by them. And some people are not fortunate enough to lose their hunger post op. Even with hunger, you can work the sleeve. Stick with Protein first.

7.5 weeks out and I can still only eat 2oz at a time depending what it is. No more than 3oz ever or it comes back up for me.

Some meals I am done in a couple bites. Other meals I can eat more. I have consumed too much on a handful of occasions and I have thrown up. It's a delicate balance.

After the 2oz, are you actually full?? Or does it just hurt to continue eating? Anyone can answer! :)

I'm actually 3 weeks out. I think after 2 oz that are eaten very slow u r full ( u feel full). If u eat those 2 oz fast and don't chew well ur full and in pain. The key is to chew ur food well and to go slow!

At 2 weeks you should be eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time, depending upon how dense it is. Eating 3 meals and 2 Snacks.< /p>

I'm 10 weeks out and for dinner tonight I ate half of a Jenny o turkey burger (plain no bun) and 1/4 cup homemade refried Beans. I was hungry for dinner. Breakfast is harder for me, I only eat 1 scrambled egg. I'm a creature of habit so my Breakfast never changes....and I love eggs! I do agree about the density, the more dense the food the less I can consume. I try to do 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
