How much weight did you loose pre-op?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 2 months into my pre-op journey and I have only lost 13 lbs thus far. I have completely changed my eating habits and have been working out (cardio) 3-4 days a week, which is more than I have ever done before. I'm so scared that post-op my progress will be equally slow.

For my preop diet we were allowed 2 Protein Shakes a day for Breakfast and lunch and then a small bowl of either chili, Soup, stew or something hearty for dinner. you could snack on sf popsicles or pudding and drink sf drinks.. and in the first week i lost 8lbs.. wht are you eating?

I started my inital preop on December 3rd. I did an 800 calorie VLCD until I started my actual preop diet which was also 600-800 calories. I lost 45 pounds in three and a half months... on similar calories that I can expect for the first 6 months post sleeve. (once I can eat a bit more.. right now I'm at 600 calories ) Yeah, it's slower than some, but It's REALLY good for me so I'm not going to complain!

I guess I should clarify I have not started the liquid pre-op diet yet. My insurance is making me do 3 month supervised diet and I'm just keeping a 1200 calorie diet. I start liquid diet April 15.

Serendipity that's great! I would love to lose 45 lbs pre-op! What was your start weight and how old are you? I'm 35, start weight 236.

Between what I did on my own and my 2 week liquid diet I lost 32 total prior to surgery. 15 of that was while on the 2 week liquid.

I'm 41 and I started my preop at 335.. I did two shakes(or cottage cheese) and a lean and green meal plus I could include: an egg, an ounce of nuts, half a piece of fruit as long as my total calories was 800... sometimes I'd have some beef Jerky or a pickle . I'd often juice some vegetables and have a glass of juice and 6 ounces of fish for my dinner as my lean and green.

I lost 17lbs in my 3 week pre opt diet. My diet was skim milk as much as I could drink in 5-10 mins 3 times a day. I could also have Water and crystal light. I did cheat about 7 times. I lost more in my pre opt then I have post opt I'm 5 weeks out and have lost 20lbs. A total of 37lb. I'm finally starting to feel it. :)

I did one Dietician meeting and have followed her plan for a month and have gained a lb. She has me eating more then I did before. I am really concerned about losing the 15lb pre op. I have to figure this out. I am on 1500 cal/day as instructed and nothing is coming off. I see the Dietician again Tue so I hope she can help then. My Doc doesn't do a 2 week liquid. They just require the pre op weight loss which is 15 for me and then Clear Liquids the day before.

I've lost 37 pounds (plus a few more I've put on and retaken off!) since I started my supervised diet the week after thanksgiving. I'm no longer seeing the nutritionist and have less than 2 weeks until surgery. I'll have to do one week of pre-op diet so I'm hoping between now and the knife I can make it an even 50!

I lost 24 on my own since last April and then another 16 during the last month preparing for surgery this Tues! It's amazing what you can do when you are truly motivated.

In the 9 months prior to my surgery I lost 27lbs. Very slow for nine months.

Now almost 3 months after surgery I've lost 42lbs.

That's 69lbs all up!! So I'm very happy. I'm sure your weight loss will be faster after surgery :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
