Any suggestions on Protein Drinks? I'm 4 weeks out and I can't stand my Protein drinks any longer. I hardly eat a thing so I know I'm not getting in the protein I need. I tried the chocolate Lean Body, some horrible Walgreens brand shake, and fruit punch Isopoure. Is there a drink you like? Did anyone else have trouble getting in their protein?

Isopure drinks are really good. You can get bottles at GNC but they are over $5/each. Or buy the powder which is much cheaper. They have all kinds of flavors. I like the mango/peach.

Do you have a Sam's Club or costco nearby? Premier Protein are by far the most popular amongst sleevers here. Not for everybody, but I know dozens of us who have settled on Premier. If you don't believe me, do a site search on Premier Protein. chocolate or vanilla. I sound like a salesperson ... but I'm not!

I agree with Pdx Man, Premier Protein shakes at costco and Amazon.com. are the best I have tried so far, and I tried a lot of powder ones my first two weeks. I like to put in freezer until just a little icy:)

Hi -- The selection of protien shakes where I am from are very limited.

So, I've come up with a formula that I can live with--maybe you would like to try this?

I mix non-flavor whey protien (6 scoops; up to 24gm of protein) with a cup of Non-Fat milk--then I drop in a tbsp of Hershey's unsweetened chocolate powder (the one used for baking) and blend this with some ice. It doesn't taste great, but it doesn't taste bad either; like watered-down chocolate milk with 32gm protien and contains 210 cal.

It doesn't break the bank, physically and financially for me. Plus, the non-flavor allows me to use it in some of my food dishes.

Hope this helps!

I like the premier Protein from costco or powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder myself. High in Protein and yummy!! With the vanilla Unjury you can add a tons of things to change the flavor too.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
