Purging my closet again - anxiety

Recommended Posts

I purged my closet one last time! I was keeping stuff for that just in case moment. But ya know that's not a very positive way to think. I now think hell no I am never getting back in those clothes again! I was sleeved Jan. 14th2013, and I went from size 26/28 shirts(cause I liked them to cover my belly) and 18/20 pants, to Xl or 1X shirt, and size 10 jeans! I can't believe how quickly my body is shrinking:) I thought I was stalling, but then I went down two pant sizes, so you just can't go on weight loss alone:)

Just finished my second closet purge and I'm really struggling with it - again. I got through it once and I'll get through this one but I'm having such a hard time giving away my things. Even though I was fat I had some really nice things. Since I'm still in the phase were you blow through sizes each month I've been reluctant to buy nice things bc I don't want to waste my money. First world problems' date=' right? :)

I'm no longer plus size and yet I'm scared to go into a regular store bc I feel like I'm going to get the "what are YOU doing in here?" look. My mind just isn't keeping up with my body!

I know I can't move forward without letting go of the past, but gosh this is all happening so fast.[/quote']

Girl, take that stuff to a higher end consignment shop and make some $$$ to buy new stuff! I know not every town is the same but I am sure with as popular as clothes swapping has become there is probably a nice one where you can make a little back from them, especially if they are more "designer" plus size.

I have purged my closet 3 times now. The first was really hard because I did have lots of pretty work clothes that were really hard to part with. I wore them until they were literally falling off of me. One day I just decided, this is it, and loaded up 2 huge laundry baskets and a couple of garbage sacks of casual clothes and coats and off I went to donate them to our local hospital's thrift shop.

The last time was really hard too because I finally packed up every single t-shirt I owned. I had gotten most of them on trips so there was a sentimental attachment to them. They went off to the thrift shop too. So it was really fun to go to a couple of other thrift shops in the area and see if I could find t-shirts of some of the places I had traveled to. Found some cute ones for places I hadn't been yet (so I guess I will have to travel to them now!) Anyway, the emotional bumps in letting go of clothes can be hard, but boy it is so worth it to go buy smaller sizes :D

I've been purging mine steadily for the past month or so. I had sizes 26 to 20, 1x-3x. I have lots of really nice clothes, and I'm also having a hard time getting rid of things. In fact, I moved them out of the closet, and have a 4 foot wide by 4 foot tall stack of things I feel like I should go through again!! I sure hope I never need those things again. I still have lots of things in the closet sizes 20 and 22, and they are getting too big. After that, I'm out of stock. I am surprised I'm having a hard time letting go of this stuff. I have a beautiful black suit with the tags still on that I bought last fall. It was slightly snug and needed to be hemmed, and now it's just huge on me. sigh. Talk about a waste of money. I also have the issue with not feeling right about shopping in "regular people sizes". So, I bough a couple of things at costco this weekend, something I wouldn't have attempted before. But it was SUPER fun buying "regular people sizes" :)

I got rid of over 10 trash bags full of clothes....I realized I dressed like a slob to hide my weight and bought and wore clothes that were big, bulky and colorless! I went to the thrift store found tons of stuff even brand new and bought it...at one store I got three pairs of pants and 4 shirts and paid $22.50! So clean out that closet! Can't wait to purge these clothes too!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
