PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet

Recommended Posts

I should clarify - a safe place where I won't be judged about my weight ... I know there are pricks who like to be unhelpful everywhere, just wasnt expecting it from here

LOL!! Good luck with your surgery!! :)

I googled what I would have to weigh to have a bmi of 55. I would have to weigh 330 freaking pounds. Congrats to rollargrl for wanting to do something now before it gets too out of hand !!!!! The surgery is actually more safe at your weight.

WOW

Big frank had to go on a month long pre op because he was so huge. They do this to decrease the fat around your organs so they can see what the hell they are doing in there. It's way more risky and difficult for the surgeon when your bmi is so high.

WOW

Why did u let yourself get so huge big frank?

AND ONE LAST WOW!!

Don't question someone's decision for surgery. Just support them. That's what this is about.

Exactly - this site is to help and support not to judge ... I personally find all the negative people here far more childish than I was. I'm 30 BMI AND OBESE ... And have every right to be in here "WOW" yourself somewhere else

Thank you' date=' just find it odd as I'm sure you've seen me on here for weeks and all of a sudden feel like I don't belong ... I was really enjoying the support. I know I'm on the smaller side - but I still have all the same issues. I will be bigger the longer I leave it - I had a fight last year and was on horrible diet pills for 6 weeks - they are horrible and I'm sick of the yoyoing ... I was up to 92 kgs once off the pills. My moms whole family is obese. And my dads side is large. I don't have genes on my side ... I've put this off for years ... I've made the decision this is what I want[/quote']

I know, I've read a number of your posts. I also do understand your reasoning. You haven't chosen an easy road, but you are well aware of that. Just keep in mind that those who are vocal about disagreeing wouldn't bother if they didn't care.

I do also get BigFrank's concern. Frank, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think part of your concern is that doctors who take on younger patients with lower BMI and no co-morbidities are starting to trivialize a serious and life-changing surgery into a cosmetic surgery. Is that fair to say? I would say that rollargirl has good reasons for choosing this, but your points are well-taken. I think it would be a worthy thread to start in the Rants and Raves forum for discussion of extremely low BMI surgeries, and maybe another thread about the need of standardizing procedures. That way we can stop hijacking rollargirl's thread :)

Not that I have to further defend myself but I'm 35 this year ... I'd rather die on the operating table doing this than carry on ... I'm an ex amature boxer who's been on and off diet pills for years - by the end of the year no doubt ill be up to 35 BMI .. And as I qualify now I don't want to waste anymore of my life battling this.

I totally understand and get this....

Lol thank you! I'm 35 this year ... And if I'm elegible now why on earth would I let myself get bigger and bigger to where ill have the possibility of loose skin where I would want even more surgery & obesity related problems .. I already have and have had PCOD for years which makes it harder to lose the weight. I don't see the point of lettin myself get more depressed and wasting my life any longer. Thank you to the girls who are supporting me being lower BMI ... And thanks but no thanks to the naysayers. you don't see me judging you for letting yourselves get so big that you're "the perfect BMI" to get this surgery!

I think we can all have differing opinions without being disrespectful to each other...... Can't we?

There are a few posts in this thread that are completely uncalled for. Please think about what you post, posting inflammatory statements or taking pot shots at another member accomplishes nothing except calling attention to yourself.

By the way , I truly didn't feel hunger until almost 2 years out. I ate to keep from being exhausted. Everybodys experience is different. ilove my sleeve. I feel like im finally safe in somebody else's wonderful body.

We were defending ourselves against very unnecessary judgment. Yes it got a little dirty but when you're "attacked" that can happen. Ill stand up for myself ... It seems there are 2 sides on here - I though we were all on the same one : to try and make our lives better, be healthier & happier.

Again thank you! I've seen MANY people say they didn't feel hunger at the start and having to set times to remember to eat - it wasn't crap info. Seriously what do people being negative and unhelpful get from it?! Thanks again Hun. I can't wait to start my journey!

Oh geez. Everybody just stop. Rollargrl was just looking for support but instead she felt she got something else and it hurt her to be asked why any doc would give her surgery.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
