covered, not approved yet...

My insurance company covers the surgery, but I still awaiting approval. My surgery is March 26th & I start my pre-op diet on March 19th. I won't know if im approved until mon/tue. The wait is killlllllllllllling me! What if I did all this work and spent all this money on doctor visits & I don't get approved??

About 2 weeks ago, my surgeons office called me and said that they have to schedule all of their patients surgeries as soon as they can with the same insurance as mine because the company has to "reevaluate" bariatric surgery & its guidelines (they need to go into negotiations, which will take about a 6 months to a year) so they want all of us to go in ASAP. I was expecting to have it in late April but got pushed end of March! Now i have to wait for approval. I don't want to get my hopes up!! Im getting anxiety about this.

Any kind words? Anyone had the same experience/in the same boat as me?

I know exactly where you're coming from. My insurance required 6 mos of visits to the surgeon. My last visit was 2 days ago. Now I wait. Surgery not scheduled yet but probably the beginning of April. Plan on starting my pre op diet of shakes and meat tomorrow.nervewracking for sure.

Approval process SUCKED!!' No one seems to thi k it's a priority, but to us, it's a chance for a new beginning. For most of them, they've never been through the process and have no sympathy for the "Little People"! Hang in there. I was approved March 12th and surgery is April 18th!

I am in the same boat. My paperwork has been sent in, and I have done the psych eval. Now I wait to hear from the Dr's office to schedule my consult. Waiting stinks! I am ready to begin my weight loss journey. Kind of concerned because I am right in the 38-40 range and hope insurance approves. Been on blood pressure meds for years, history of borderline diabetes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
