Popcorn--why stay away???

Recommended Posts

Its dry and can get stuck. Some bandsters eat it with no trouble, but I've stayed away from it. I don't think its a very good choice of food to try and eat.

I eat popcorn when the mood strikes me. I buy the low fat microwave kind and spray zero calorie "butter" on it. Sometimes it goes down fine and sometimes not.

True...it is a problem with some as far as getting stuck. And, since you can't eat that much to begin with why would you want to fill up on empty calories and something that gives your body no nutritional benefit? Stick with food choices that will benefit your body, and eat your Protein first.

I occasionally have popcorn when we go to the movies at night. Just have to make sure to chew chew chew. I love the fact that I used to be able to down a large popcorn at the movies alone and now I can't even eat half of a children's size lol.

I have the 100 calorie bags at least once a week with my daughter. So I actually get about 40 or so calories. That is one of the few Snacks that I have. I think it's a good choice, 40 calories, very little fat and I am filled up and not continuing to snack. We usally watch a movie and share a bog od popcorn on at least one weekend night. It's better for me than chips, or candy. ~Mandy

My son usually pops a bag on our family fun nights. It smells super yummy and I treat myself to a small handful. But if I am not careful to chew really well, I am in for trouble.

I have chosen to not give it a try...I don't want to take the chance of it getting stuck. I love to smell it, though!!

I have no problem eating popcorn. And I enjoy having it as a change in the everyday.

Hello,

A friend of mine just got a band and her doc told her to stay clear of popcorn? Anyone know why?

Per my doc...there is really no nutritional value to it. It's empty carbs and calories. I don't eat it any more.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
