I would love to walk Sunday. I will not be back from Lancaster until about 1pm.. so if you go in the afternoon let me know. I am still planning on Wednesday night if anyone else is up for it? Just send me an e-mail or post it here, I will check the site when i get home.

I did the 3 mile MS walk this morning. and we finished in just under 50 minutes. It frlt good. I will admit by the time I gopt home I was getting stiff. Hit the shower and relaxed a bit.

I went out to dinner tonight, baked (5)scallops and crab cake, with some cottage cheese. I did bring most of the crab cake home, So dinner for another night is set! Does anyone else have trouble getting in their veggies?

Talk with everyone tomorrow

Howdy!

I'll be there Sunday morning.

I can't walk Wednesday, I have a prior commitment. I can walk on Monday or Friday. (I know Friday is probably a bad day, but it's worth a shot)

I am up for walking on Monday and Friday. And if anyone else wants to walk Wednesday I am game for that too.

I drove around behind College Square, the area you said had the walking path, but saw nothing. How is it marked.

6pm is the best time for me, no matter what night, if anyone else can make that time.

Just let me know where for Monday night.

I got back from Lancaster late. It was raining there so I stayed a bit longer. Hope your walk this morning was envigorating!

I tried do hard this weekend to stay within the eating guidelines, and think i did fairly well. I don't know how we are supposed to keep our carbs around 30g, i find that near to impossible. Is anyone else having trouble with that?

Hi!

6 p.m. on Monday and Friday work for me. The path in Newark is behind the Pep Boys. There is a Road, I believe it is Willa Rd. There is a park called Delaware Technology park. If you look right next to the bridge (where Library Road is) you will see the path. It actually starts on the top of the hill where Willa Rd and Library Ave. intersect. I can show you some time if you like.

I don't remember any carb guidelines. Of course, now I have gone through 2 programs. I start the mushies on Tuesday. Right now I have only Protein and Fluid intake guidelines. I keep meaning to email the dietician about whether I need to count carbs or calories as well.... I guess it gets more complicated when you move from the liquids.< /p>

I will have to say that I did Atkins and lost 100 pounds. It was tough at times to keep my carbs at 20 or below. I think I would have to cut out all the milk products. They have a lot more carbs then I could handle if I limited myself to 30 carbs a day. I know I ate a lot of meat and cheese. I ate low carb veggies like cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts.

The walk today was good. I think the first day is always the toughest. I look forward to increasing our speed and endurance!

I guess we can meet at 40/896 tomorrow at 6.

I see the dietition on April 29, but may call this week to see about the carbs. I am at about 800-900 calories a day, depending on what I eat. And I do agree, the carbs are high in cottage cheese and milk, and bananas...guess I'll cut back a bit on them..

I'll see HopeInApril and anyone else tomorrow night at 6pm, 896/40.

I am mixing mushies and soft solid for the next week-10 days. I am supposed to have "real", regular diet a few days before my next appt. with Dr. Wynn, 5/9. There are times I think there is restriction, but beginning to think it is from eating too fast...My main problem with food, as well as portion size..I know that is what helped me get to this point.

I am interested in how my weight loss is doing.. I'll step on the scale at work Tuesday morning

Delaware, thanks for posting the next 2 meetings. I have been looking for my paperwork with the dates...

Hey gang, My name is Kim and I had surgery on 6/2/06. I have had some struggles along the way but I have managed a 75 pound loss. I would love to join the group for some walks. One of my biggest issues is exercise....quite frankly....I HATE IT...LOL But my goal is to be better about this day to day. Look forward to meeting some of you in the futures.

I am planning on walking Wednesday evening, around 6pm at 896/40 path in Glasgow. Anyone else gonna come along..??

Just let any of us know.

Kim, come join the group.

HopeInApril and I walked last evening...were able to complete it in about 50 minutes, and before any rain. A few times while walking i felt a few sprinkles, but no real rain.

Next week I am hoping to get to the gym here at work a few times a week and work on my arms. The facility is free for us and I want to make use of the services

Well, better get back to work

Catch up with you all later

Lynn

Howdy!

The walk last night was good. There were a few sprinkles, but that wasn't bad. I can't go tomorrow night, but will walk Friday if anyone else wants to go.

Welcome Kim! Nice to have someone who is further along on the lapband path.

Life is moving along ladies. Now that I am eating mushies, I feel like I have some restriction. Very cool.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
