Need suggestions!

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days post op and I'm on full liquids for 2 more weeks :( so far I've had creamy Soups, Water with crystal light and propels, sf Popsicles, sf carnation Breakfast and Premier Protein. All of these I'm getting sick of and I can barely get through them. I'm having TERRIBLE head hunger and even feeling like I regret the surgery because I just wanna eat something. Any suggestions on some different liquids to try to get me through 2 more weeks of this???

I can't remember.. But can you have watery malt o meal at that stage?

The reason...is that on full liquids some people can have cream or wheat like things (watered down)

I made my malt o meal with homemade chicken broth so I could have something savory and more "meal" like! Don't judge! I was desperate!

:P

I (unfortunately) don't have any suggestions for you... BUT, I wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this internal struggle. I am five days out and my diet consists of the exact same items that you have listed. I have found that I am very found of creamy chicken broth (reminds me of a chicken pot pie, without the yummy crust). I can't for the life I me get my premier Protein shakes down, so I've ordered some sample packets of syntax unflavored Protein. My thought is to mix that in with some fruit punch crystal light, so I can at least get some protein in.

Hang in there. I KNOW this will be worth it in the long run. Everybody says this is the hardest stage. I can now see why...

Have you tried plain non-fat greek yogurt yet? I add some orange flavor mio to it and it takes yummy. I also get SF pudding. You can do it....2 week isn't that long when you think about how much healthier you're gonna get. Good luck with it!

I used to add different seasonings to my broth to change the flavors... Mrs. Dash & garlic powder were my favorites. SF jellos were good too.

Can't have Malto meal until soft stage, no yogurt yet either and I can't even have Jello :( I may try the different seasoning in the broth though. I'm just struggling to get enough Protein and Water and nothing tastes good :(

No Jello, wow. That's odd. Almost all docs consider jello as a clear liquid. And yogurt as a full liquid. Talk about strict.

Unfortunately Head Hunger is just something you have to deal with at this stage, check the carb levels on the carnation instant breakfast. If you are consuming carbs, your cravings will be harder to deal with.

I can't have yogurt yet either. But sf Jello has been one of my greatest loves! When can you advance to jello???

It's the sf carnation instant breakfast. My surgeon listed it in the post op folder so I assume he's ok with it. I've only had a half of a bottle...it just doesn't taste good.

I can't advance to Jello until the soft stage...that's another 2 weeks :(

I will say this first week (or two in your case) is a major adjustment, to say the least. :)

Hang in there... There is light at the end of the tunnel!!! ;)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
