Well I was doing good on the boot camp until my doctor admitted me to the hospital on Thursday and had my gallbladder removed on Friday. Guess that is one of the downsides of losing weight. On the upside of having surgery...my kids cleaned the whole house for me!! LOL Another upside is I feel like I just had the sleeve surgery done and am back to the the liquid diet I originally started with. I am really happy to see how many of you are doing good on the boot camp!! Keep up all the great work!!

Nita, I am so sorry to hear this, you sound positive and upbeat so I hope your pain is nil.

Exactly what I needed to do too, I had started nibbling throughout the day too. This boot camp rocked for me, 5 lbs gone

A BIG THANK YOU TO STOMLIN75 for starting this boot camp. It was hard day 2 & 3 but staying busier on day 4 & 5 helped a lot.

I did this boot camp cause chocolate and crackers had crept in to my life in February. I lost no weight in the whole month even though I exercise big time and all my other months I have lost 10 lb's.

What this boot camp showed me was

1. I had not been getting as much Water in as I usually do.

2. My head had a hold of me & I was succumbing to "a little here, a little there, I eat so little all is Ok".

3. Team work helps a TON.

4. Instead of trying to figure out why I ate the cupcake on day 3 & worrying that I "was unable to follow the program and blah blah blah" the advice by art song "dust yourself off & keep on going" was so simple, accepting of myself IT WORKED. Umm I bet I can use that in other areas of my life...lol

This morning, the 5 th day, I woke up hungry. I needed encouragement & boy did I get it. 5 solid pounds gone!!! And the pants that were just not getting loose enough to look good ALL OF A SUDDEN fit so lovely I could S C R E A M. thanks again. I will keep checking this forum for the people still doing it, keep on going. This support ROCKS

P.S. I went to OA on Saturday, nearest meeting is one hour away, it was real good for me, heard others talking out loud about staying abstainate. Heard others with my crazy head in their crazy head.

THAT IS AWESOME AND HAS ME GEARED UP FOR TODAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! (CAPS FROM EXCITEMENT FOR YOU)

I am starting my day off with some 2.5 oz of salmon. I will have some 100 cal pack of almonds for snack.< /p>

lunch will be 110 calorie pack of tuna with some spinach

dinner will be 3-4 oz of steamed shrimp and spinach

Depending on what the calories look like I may have a half of chobani for snack. My coworker brough me some from the USA! It is like a taste of home. So happy. Have a great boot camp week! Let's rock it out!

I made it down 4 pounds over the 5 days. Feels great to get back in control. What I like about this is that 5 days is a finite period of time. It's doable and there is an end in sight. I drank a smoothie this morning with fruit in it and it was so nice to have fruit again.

What I learned:

1) I do not get enough Water and need to focus on this. Weight drops were significantly higher the day after drinking a lot of Water. This is KEY!!

2) Carbs are not evil but it's important to remain in control of my behavior, not letting myself get out of hand. Boot camp is a supplemental tool to the sleeve that allowed me to take back control. I will definitely use it again.

3) Team support with checking in daily on this thread is useful. I want to come up with a better paradigm (online system) for making boot camp easier for folks to join and check-in daily. Stay tuned....

Thanks to everyone for joining me and for those still plugging away or just starting, you can do it!! Stay the course. Much love to all!

I did not workout (still need to get control of that) but I lost 2 1/2 lbs, not 4 like Stomlin75

Just an FYI y'all, I was just ending my period when I started this so that gave me a leg up. If I continue like clockwork, I will now stall for a week or more and then drop a few more. It's just how my body loses.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
