Wowsers. That's nuts for only two weeks. I just had to use the Bariatric Advantage shakes. $60 for a month. More than what I can change to from GNC or Sams Club after. The two week just had to be this stuff. $250 seems out of line though. Maybe you can ask if they have any alternatives.

I was thinking about asking. I can't see why they would be against me saving alittle money :-)

Hi Carrie. I just started my 2 week diet today. I am being sleeved on March 7th. My dr required to use Optifast also. It cost me $200 for 10 boxes and I was told that I couldn't use an alternative. I was surprised especially since it only has 14g of Protein. Some of the others that were less expensive had more protein and tasted better. Good luck!

If your doctor requires it then fine, but you gotta wonder - Is he selling it to you? If he requires something like that which is quite expensive and he is selling it I question the ethics of that, espcially if he will not give you any alternatives to pick from.

Optifast is fine, but so are any of their competitors.

I had to do Optifast for 2 weeks. I found the shakes to be the only edible things out of the lot. The Soups bars and Desserts were all foul. The chocolate and strawberry shakes aren't terrible you get used to them. Buy online and you will save more. I also had to use optifast 3 weeks post surgery until I started on puree. Now 4 months post-op it's all a distant memory! Good luck :)

I did Optifast for 2 weeks. Also paid around the same ( included 3 bottles if Isopure for after surgery). strawberry were my favorite. vanilla was gross. I bought instant coffee granuals (little packets) and would mix it into the vanilla (well actually shake it in a shaker to really mix it up) and that helped! I had the bars as well. They were gross but when you're not actually eating anything else they seemed a little better! Good luck!!!!! It'll go by quickly! I lost 17 lbs on optifast in 9 days!!!

I feel for you guys. It sucks you have to do a pre op diet. I am not sure I would have made it if I had to do one. Good luck.

Are you allowed veggies from a list as well? And sugar free lollies? WW jelly? Diet soft drinks etc. I made Soups with the "allowed" veggies. I also made salads with 1tsp olive oil lemon juice and mustard. And if I didn't have salad I would sometimes stirfry some veggies with spray oil. Helped keep me sane. Glad I had to do a pre-op. Prepared me well for post surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
