March into Formation March Sleevers! Roll Call...

Recommended Posts

Just remember to get up and walk a bit on the flight and you may want to invest in some compression stockings for the flight home.

Thanks! I went and bought the socks today to pack!

Who else is starting preop this coming weekend? I am starting on Sunday...I am stocked up and ready to go.....

Funny how that I notice my ticker says 1 week 6 days now, how scary is that?

I am excited to meet all of the other March 13 & 14th sleevers!!! YAY!

Also, just wanted to mention there are some books about VSG on Amazon. I have a kindle, and you can download them for .99 - $3.99 to your kindle / amazon library...or you can order print copies. Most of them have 4-5 star ratings.

Thanks for the info! I don't think I'll start mine until next Wednesday as they only said I needed 7 days pre op diet. I think it depends on your BMI as to what they suggest. I'm going to get my last Taco Tuesday in! Lol I'm still waiting for my Protein powders to come in so hopefully they will any day now. I have some Body by Vi Weight Management powder but it has a lot of Fiber & only 12 gms protein... if I double up on the powder I'm going to be in the bathroom all day long...no bueno! so I figured I could mix it with the other powders I ordered. Did you say your surgery is 3/13 as mine too?

I only have to do the diet for 2 weeks but I decide to do it for 3 weeks at this rate I may lose 30 pounds before surgery that would put me at 225.

You will be glad you did, I have two pair I wear them to work. They are wonderful for circulation.

For me it was quality of care and expertise of the surgeon. I have insurance that would probably pay but the care and experience is lacking.

I have a question being new to this board. Why are so many people having surgery in Mexico?

Because this is the self pay Mexico forum :)

This also the date of my surgery too!

I have a question being new to this board. Why are so many people having surgery in Mexico?

I think the reasons vary. For some, their insurance doesn't cover the procedure. For others it's a matter of cost. Or, like another poster shared, they felt more comfortable with the surgeons expertise since they been doing the sleeve for years. I'm sure there are other results too.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
