I guess I can't cut and paste here, so I'm attachiing. This is the story of how I came to accept that WLS was no longer an option unless I wanted a shorter life filled with pain. I chose Dr. Felipe Cantu in Reynosa, Mexico and I'm having a great experience.

Great story! Glad to hear you had a successful surgery and a great hospital. I hope that I come through mine as smoothly as you did yours. Luckily my insurance covers my surgery. I hope Virginia Hospital Center provides me with a similar experience as yours did for you.

So I'm in Texas also. My primary encouraged me to do this but recommended I go to San Diego and to TJ. I'm curious what you paid for your surgery? Obviously I'm already in the hole $500 more for a flight :/

Definitely. Should have included the cost.

Base cost: $6,900. Includes doctor, hospital, anesthesiologist and nutritionist.

Pre-op for blood work and Xray was $140; EKG and office visit with internist for surgery clearance was $160.

They discovered and repaired a hernia. That was $200.

Post-op meds were about $150.

I can't think of anything I won't share! I'm grateful for all of those who posted so I could read. It really, really helps.

Your story was absoutely music to my ears (ok eyes). I have heard many great things about Dr. Cantu and I have spoke a few times with Lupita. I am a major chicken and so affraid of surgeries, pain, etc. You, my friend have eased my doubts and I am so pumped now to get this done. Im supposed to have someone call me to see if I can drop by for a consult and to check the facilities the day after Thanksgiving. I am very excited and hope to take care of this soon. I am 5'2" 300 lbs and miserable. Heavy, tired, popping metformin every day is taking its toll. I am ready for a change and I also pray that my adventure goes as smoothly as yours.
