FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

I am 7 weeks out now and have been very lucky that I have tolerated all of the non-starchy raw and cooked veggies (lettuce, spinach, red peppers, cucumber, cauliflower, zucchini, etc) and lower-carb fruits (eg, small amounts of berries) that I have tried so far-- but the problem that I'm having is having room for them after I get in my Protein at meals. I asked my dietitian if I could have l them in between meals so that I can get in the nutrients and Fiber and still undereat my sleeve at mealtimes. She said absolutely! And if I want to have a snack/fourth meal, I can make it a Greek yogurt or ricotta or cottage cheese dip and have veggies with it.

Also, my weight loss was really stalling--for almost 3 weeks and I constantly felt hungry and a little weak/unbalanced (no, it wasn't stomach acid...lol...I am on a PPI). My RD said I probably needed some more carbs (good carbs). I upped the veggie (and limited fruit) carbs--still no refined/bad carbs--and feel sooo much better. She actually would be okay with me having things like Flat-Outs but I don't really miss the bready stuff so I'm going to skip it right now.

Following my RD's advice, the "hungry" (lightheaded/low energy) feeling between meals went away, and the scale dropped 3 pounds. Very happy! It's great to feel better AND have the scale move.

Have I mentioned that my RD is awesome? Truly! She answers every email within about an hour, sends me recipe ideas, etc., and I always leave with tons of notes and ideas when I meet with her. Plus I am a vegetarian and so is she, which makes things very nice.

I'm officially one month post op. I'm down 29 pounds including the pre op diet. I'm done with the liquid' date=' pureed and soft food . Today I advance to the on going nutrition stage. Not going to lie I'm a little nervous. I feel like the chains are off but I'm afraid of running free, lol.

I'm really trying to be more structured with my meals. I called my NUT to ask about calorie intake and etc. She told me just to focus on Protein and fluids. I've struggled with protein because i can't tolerate the shakes. Hopefully that will change more that I'm eating food. I'm using MFP to track everything.

I'm curious to know what is your calorie intake for those one month out?[/quote']

600-800 calories, 80g protein

I was told to stay between 800-1000... That seems like a lot to me. I'll be one month out this Thursday and I can't wait to try anything that's not liquid. I have to do full liquids for 5 weeks.

Ate canned corned beef hash for supper...... It was good, actually. I'm tired of this soft foods phase!

Have been stalled at the same weight for a week now, ever since I had that stomach flu. I'm not worrying too much, as it seems everyone stalls around this point.

Ok. So I am a little scared. I can drink whatever I want want with no or very little discomfort. Soups are easy and don't bother me. I am a week out and yesterday cheated with my liquids by having some crackers. I am worried that I am doing to well and something is wrong. Maybe it is just nothing but I listen to everyone else and the issues and think that I might be missing something. I get a little heartburn but I can't complain one bit. I see my doc tomorrow for a follow up. I am supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks then purée for 2 weeks and then soft for 2 weeks. I am scared that since nothing is bothering me that I am going to lose control move too fast and hurt something. Sorry for rambling. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

I am feeling the exact same way right now. I am 4 days post op but am commited to only liquids for 2 weeks. But i am thirsty and can really take in the liquid! Anyone else been through this and if do...how are you doing now?

7 weeks out and down 35lbs! I hit under 200 today! Never has 199 looked so good! I had a stall for a few weeks and was frustrated but once I increased my calories to 700-800 it really helped! My size 18 are baggy and my employees are asking often how much more have I lost. They notice weekly but I'm still having a hard time seeing it. I still see the 236 I use to be. Ready to notice the change.

My surgery is Tuesday 26th @ 8am. Yippeee can't wait to start this next chapter but I've been wondering from my fellow sleeve family that had the procedure last month. What's the 1st areas on your body where you noticed the weight loss.. I keep hearing in your face is that true? I know everyones body is different tho.

I am noticing it in my face and thighs. Hoping tummy will be noticeable soon. My surgery date was Feb 27th.

Is it just me or does your belly button look different post op. I hope I'm not being paranoid but it looks like my belly button is in a complete different place and it isn't as deep.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
