So excited I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down 25lbs since my preop appointment. I was sleeved on 2/5

We were sleeved on the same day and I was down 25 lbs yesterday! Its so amazing! Congrats!

My surgery was on Monday the 18th. When do you start to feel normal. Im having severe nausea, Water stool (I still have a lot of gas in me) Please help, Im feeling kind if defeated.

You're only on day one. Give it time. You will feel better and better every day. The gas can last a while though. I'm a week out and still have some. The doc should be able to give you something for the nausea. Keep your head up!

My level off weight I want to be 200-205. I was In bad shape and in bad health. I have been taking 13 pills a day covering diabetes' date=' blood pressure medicine, high cholesterol medicine, arthritis and sleep apnea medicine plus 5 shots of Insulin per day. After surgery I take 1 pill and No Insulin at all. Diabetes completely in remission which is the reason I had the surgery.[/quote']

The diabetes for me was a huge thing. I was taking about 170 units of Insulin a day and still didn't have good control. I've been diabetic for 21 years. The odds of a full remission are slim, but I needed to do something. I also have everything you have except for the arthritis. I'm taking less than 50 units of Insulin today and thyroid pills only. I was sleeved on 2/14.

I was told not to use neosporin. I was sleeved on the 15th. The itching is the worst. Anyone still having the has pains? I am using the gas x thin strips, but when will it go away?

I used the neosporin with pain medication and it helps numb it a bit so no itching. No issues from it at all.

My surgery is on March 1. I know I'm not in February, but your thread I really helping me and eye opening and I have enjoyed every one of your posts. Thanks for sharing all your stories. I'm really excited mine is coming up and yet I'm a bit anxious too. I'm sure that's normal. Still trying different Protein Shakes because Muscle Milk isn't my first choice. Also, I was told to get my Vitamins in liquid or under the tongue type. The Iron drops are enough to make me lose it. What do you guys use? And what about Calcium? My liquid stuff is gross! Help please!

I use chew-able gummy vitamins for adults not children's. They are kinda fun to take and I feel like a kid when I go for the yummy flavored one. I also am on a calcium chew and it's chocolate flavored so it's like my little cheat every day :D

Hi, I have been reading all the posts. I am now able to participate. I was sleeved February 13, 2013. I found out my surgery date 6 days before surgery. I started in May 2012 with the seminar. My insurance changed the beginning of 2013 and since I couldn't make it in by end of year 2012 I had to wait for approval.

If I updated you on how I felt throughout the process, I could just about copy everyones post. It was nice reading everyone was experiencing the same things. I am feeling pretty good now, just stomach cramping. It's a full time job getting in all the liquids. Congratulation to you all.

I, too, am using the adult gummi Vitamins for now, but I'm unsure if they will be ok to use post op right away. Too much sugar or don't chew up enough? That's something I have to ask. I just went and bought chocolate calcium, but again I'm wondering if they will be ok after surgery. Any thoughts?

You win, Moe. That does not sound fun. I am now in the 3 month soft period so I am in a better mood than I was on limited liquids. I kept trying to get my husband to agree that Campbells Green Pea Soup was in substantial compliance with the list. My arguments that it couldn't be worse than Tomato juice fell on deaf ears. Contrary to my usual behavior, I caved to his arguments. I think it must have been the drugs.

Sounds like your doctor and my doctor were both Marine Corp DI's in a former life.

Here's how mine looks:

Preop - 800 calories via Protein Shake only (his brand) for 2 weeks

Postop

One week of Clear Liquids.

Two weeks of cloudy liquids (like preop pretty much)

Two weeks of puree

Two weeks of soft Protein

Then strict full protein diet until 3 months.

Also, I am off the CPAP machine! I was sleeved 2/4 and have lost 34 pounds. 16 pre-op and 18 post op. Apparently that was enough for the apnea because within 8 days of surgery, I no longer needed it. That is awesome!

Tonight I've decided to give myself some tough love. As most of you know I was given clearance for a normal well chewed diet at 10days out. Since then my fluids and Protein have tanked. Starting tomorrow I am going back to the basics. I don't want to take any chances with my sleeve and will be going back to full liquids with one mushy meal at night. The little amount of food I can eat isn't worth the risk of not getting enough protein.

I love mine! It gives me "diplomatic immunity" from farts. I can do the crimes with zero consequences. My wife is dying from the smells and I smell nothing.

Seriously though, congrats! That's an awesome NSV!

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
