Finally!!!! after crying & being nervous. I had my surgery on feb 6th at 9.30am. Was in the recovery room at 10.30. Groggy all day but quite awake & normal. Obviously the pain killers were working. I had the Leak X-ray test the next morning and it was all ok. Got home and for about 24 hours I was just so emotional and cried a lot because I was scared of the next few months with 2 kids and no lifting them.

That's my only worry!

I feel physically fine with no pain and discomfort.

I'm on a liquid diet for 15 days post op and then to soft foods which I just cannot wait for. I am still hungry and missing foods. Is it normal?

Are you on a PPI (Prilosec, etc?) in the beginning i had hunger which was actually acid. Maybe that will help?

And CONGRATS! Those feelings are normal.

Absolutely normal. I cried like a baby a day after my surgery and I my head wants food but my stomach doesn't. I'm not hungry at all. Takes everything for me to drink these Protein Shakes but I must and don't forget those fluids to stay hydrated. When I want to eat I get out my sugar free Popsicles. They help ALOT!! I had four of them yeaterday

. Hunger is this normal? Post op I had a conversation with my surgeon about this... He explained that 50 % of his patients still have hunger post op. So based on that conversation Yes it is normal. I noticed when I have gas I mistake it as hunger... I hope this helps! Best Wishes Tina

Congratulations! Here's to lots of rapid and healthy healing!

I'm a mama of young kids as well, and this is also my biggest fear. I hope you have lots of health! I have family coming for 2-3 weeks and then my husband hired a couple of mother's helpers to come in for a few weeks during the day while he is working. Maybe you can hire a college girl (or girls) for those hours during nap time when you know you'll need help lifting? Or all day if you can afford it?

Best of luck to you!

I am almost 3 weeks out and lift my 40lb nephew no problem.

Some doctors say NO lifting until 6-8 weeks post-op. Mine is one of them.

I've also seen some docs allow 5 lbs to be added each week, so you can lift progressively heavier things.

Not everyone is cleared to lift at 3 weeks, especially if a doc knows you have young children...they want to save you from excessive lifting and strain to your staple line. Every doc is different. :)

Congrats to you! I can only imagine how good it must have felt to release the emotions that have built up for so long! You will do great and I'm sure you will be lifting those sweet little ones in your arms soon!

Keep us posted!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
