My goal is a little higher BMI then most - I'm thinking that I might change it once I get to it. Its hard to remember being that size and what I'll look like now at my age. I think 126 seems so small to me - my 16 y/o is a size 6 at that and I'm an inch taller then her. My other daughter is closer to 150 and she is a 8 or 10 and it just seemed more realistic. Guess I'll know when I get closer to it. :)

ok - I changed my goal from 150 to 140 and that put me in the "normal" BMI group - I know I'm nuts. But I think 140 is very do-able.

Morning Ladies,

Just a quick post-I am off to the mall with the kids.

Just want to mention that evaporated skim milk is great to add to Soups, coffee, cream of wheat or whatever youwant to cream up and thicken. I used it yesterday for my creamy Soup and today I added it with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder(yuk) to my cream of wheat to get it really thin and soupy. It has 1g or Protein per tablespoon. In my cream of wheat I used a packet of splenda, about 1/2 scoop of Protein powder (8gm protein) and 4T of evap. skim milk (4gm) making a prety protein free meal into a 12gm protein meal. Next time I will use the whole scoop of powder. I was afraid it would taste nasty. A little shake of cinnamon and it was a yummy and filling meal for under 200 cals. I am using fitday to track my intake and I am averaging 550 cals and 40gm of protein a day. My appetite is getting better though so I hope to be able to get more protein in.

welcome janmack!hope you are feeling well.

mystique-congrats on the xmas gift. Good luck on that tight butt youwill be getting! :)

transformer-I meant to thank you yesterday for the encouragement. I do feel lucky that this will be the first xmas I am not gaining!

Have a good day all!!!!

Karen AR-Thank you very much for the sites you provided. I haven't had a chance to do much "surfing" to find these types of sites since my surgery due to the hoopla of the holidays and all!

KayDotRn-Thanks for the tip about the evaporated milk. I'm going to try that with my Tomato Soup today. Yum!

Congrats to all on so many wonderful NSVs! Keep it up!

I have found it very interesting to read about the wide variety of experiences that everyone has been going through--I've read postings from people in Australia, England, Ireland, Germany, the US, etc. It sounds like some folks were hardly given any information about what to eat after surgery and I feel SO badly when I read about them being so hungry or in so much pain when it doesn't have to be that way. I just want to reach through the screen to give them a big hug and tell them it'll be okay! :)

I'm glad that these boards exist so all of us can share what we know in the hopes of helping out someone who's having a tough time. I realize now that I was truly blessed with an outstanding team of people at my surgery center who have kept me flying high (so far)! :plane: I feel very spoiled, indeed!

By the way, my ex-husband, who drove me back and forth to have this weight-loss surgery a week ago, thought it would be okay to give me two boxes of cordial cherries because I could "nibble a hole in the chocolate and suck out the liquid filling." Sigh! :faint: Thought you'd all get a kick out of THAT one! Suffice to to say that both boxes have a hot date with a big old trash bin! :)

Congratulations to everyone who has managed to fend off all of their well-meaning relatives who tried to derail your healthy eating plans over Christmas! You all have "bands of steel!" Now we just have to survive New Year's...:)

Hello and Happy New You to all my fellow December bandsters. Well I'm exactly 1 week post-op today and on cloud nine. Before showering this morning I just had to do it....stepped on the scales...Day of surgery (the 20th) was at 235...this morning 221!!!! Wish they had a smilie on here that was turning sumersaults and doing flips...cause that's exactly how it feels. Also, getting to make some of that wonderful sounding runny cream of wheat. woo hoo!

Everyone seems to be in the most positive of moods and that's contagious! So good to get back on the web to read the posts. I think my hubby is beginning to think I have a lover on the web. He's started sitting in my spot on the couch where I do my computer work. (Laptop) I'm enjoying the fact he knows I exist again; normally he's glued to the tv. for hours and I end up munching from the kitchen. Now, I grab the laptop and visit with you all.

Karen I enjoy your posts from the UK. I am a British lit. teacher from MS so I appreciate your English references.

I actually had the hiatal hernia repaired at the same time of the band surgery. My return to work will be later due to the incision from navel to the ...well, panty-line.

I am still finding it impossible to get the Ticker transported from the factory to this site. I highlighted from img - img and pasted, but my ticker didn't past. By the way, what is our "signature" line? Help?!#

Dianne

Ok, I'm in the process of trying to get the ticker thing. I pasted under the edit your signature, and saved the sig. so let's see if it worked.

Thanks everyone for the support. I don't know about everyone else but I couldn't make it with out all your support. Life goes on dispite not being able to eat a large bag of chips doesn't it. I'm not sure if I mentioned this but my husband has been battling cancer for the second time in 2 years and he is now out of chemo and taking radiation. Many times this has been pretty stressful and you guys have gotten me through it. The day of my surgery DH had to go for a pet scan to see if the cancer had spread. All the messages you sent helped to keep me focused on one thing at a time. My husband is doing well for now and I am doing great. This is the kind of friends you only hope for. Well enough for my sappy self. I think all of us need to pat our self on the back not only for our hard work but our compassion and kindness to each other. I know this coming year we will be the biggest losers of all. love you guys!!!

Carol-I'm so happy your husband is doing well!

Ok, so today I go to the mideval times hospital where my surgery was preformed. I had an appointment, I talked to the Dr. on Friday and Saturday, both days he told me to come in at noon. I drive 3 hrs to get there. I arrive, the office is closed!! So I have the front desk call someone and they tell me to go to the floor where I stayed after my surgery. I get up there and they are shocked to see me!1

Where is dr. Matcovich? Noone knows! Why you here? You stay again?

um no!! I need these freakin staples removed, the dr. said to come today.

So after an hour wait, and an old lady screaming profanities in german at me becuase "you have no Deutche in Deutchland?" Meaning why don't i speak german and I live in Germany?? I have only been here 4 months!! So she yelled stuff at my husbnad and I and 2 toddlers for about 45 mins.

Finally a nurse comes to get me with a big cart of stuff, on the cart is a tool that looks like pliers. I'm scared.

So i go in the office, not even a hospital room, it's the office with their extra shoes and scrubs. I lay on this makeshift table, it's kind of dark in here, she rubs me with alcohol, and then proceeds to rip out my staples!!!!!

Ok, rip them out, literally, it was excruciating, I cried and screamed, i'm sure the entire floor heard me.

One got really really stuck, she had to get an extra pair of pliars, put her foot up on a chair and rip. ohhhh my goodness, that hurt. hurt.

I said, why am I stapled? Why am I not glued and taped, like everyone else I know who got this surgery.

Because you are human, you are not car, we do not tape a human.

wow, mideval times for sure.

So that was my staple removing experience. I go back next monday for i don't know what to see the dr. I will call ahead of time to make sure they remember that I am coming.

How was everyone elses day?? or is your day, since i'm 6 hrs. ahead.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
