I have a long history of irregular periods. Ive lost over 50 pounds since my surgery in Dec and I hadnt had a period in a long time prior to the surgery. But now it doesnt seem to go away.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. My last period before surgery was 10/23. Had surgery 11/28. Finally got my period on 1/7 and bled pretty heavy for 18 days until 1/25! Went to the doctor and he said that it was most likely because I hadn't had it in a while so maybe I had a build up or something. He is sending me for bloodwork and an ultrasound next week. Possibly an endometrial biopsy as well just to rule out anything else going on. Good luck to you. Let me know how you're doing!

Before surgery I had terrible heavy irregular periods lasting 14 -21 days. I too had to have a endometrial biopsy, which came back normal. My GYN said that it was all weight related and after losing my first 50 lbs, they became more normal. Now after 100lbs loss I have a normal 28 day cycle, and periods lasting 6-7 days. I was told that estrogen gets stored in fat and that can cause all these issues.

Just wanted to say that I also had horrible, heavy and long periods up until recently. I would soak through a fem hygiene product- of the highest absorbency, within an hour. I finally had the nova sure procedure done. Totally changed everything! Now periods are super light and short. It was wonderful. :)

Doctor has tried double dose of birth control for over 2 weeks....didn't work. Going back to the doctor on monday. We shall see what is next.

I have always had a irregular period and right before surgery and the IUD I hadnt had a period for eight months! Was diagnosed with Diabetes and the medicine Metformin also given to women to regulate they period made me have a regular menstraul! Now after surgery it has come on time but lasted from the 12th until 31soooo I dnt know if I can blame the surgery or this damn IUD because the doc says it can take up to 3 months for my body to get use to the IUD Wth! Has anyone else had this issue with the IUD?

For a year before surgery I had an IUD and my periods were pretty normal. They actually lasted about 4 days and were on the light side, but they would come on time every month. A month before surgery it was removed, I had it re-inserted a month after surgery and now my periods are extremely heavy the first 3 days and they come whenever. I just actually got mine yesterday and it was over a week late. Don't know whether it's the 100lbs weight loss and the hormones flooding my body or the IUD.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
