1st Day on Pureed Food

Recommended Posts

Today was my first day on the pureed diet. I was so excited to get something close to real food. I had babyfood 2.5 oz (chicken and gravy) and a pureed turkey burger (2.5 oz). It was HEAVEN! I dont know how I am going to go back to Protein Shakes to get all my extra Protein in. I tried mixing some unflavored Unjury to my Crystal Lite and it was just not happening. I don't look forward to adding it to my yogurt or pudding either. Does anyone have any good ideas on getting in your protein on your pureed diet? I would be grateful for whatever info I can get.

I was given a list of possible recipes with my packet from my nutrionist. I try to stick with foods that have the higher Proteins. I just blend until it is the consistency of baby food or yogurt. If I do a 'taco' I do ground beef or turkey and use salsa as my liquid to puree. If I do spaghetti, I do the same thing but with spaghetti ingredients. The only thing Iive out would be the noodles. Some meats have more texture than others and won't get completely smooth. My 'turkey burger' was not completely smooth, but was mushy enough that it went down without any problem.

It doesn't sound great but it's not too bad, especially if you add the Unjury to it. I will attach my two favorite recipies:

Chocolate Tofu Pudding

Makes 4 1/2-cup servings

Soft tofu makes it easy to prepare a smooth and creamy chocolate pudding. Be sure the tofu is fresh by checking the date on the package.

1 pound soft silken tofu

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 - 1/2 cup maple Syrup (to taste) or Splenda (to taste)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Place all ingredients in a blender and process until completely smooth. Spoon into small bowls and chill well before serving.

Moroccan Lentil Soup by the Happy Herbivore

The only thing I do differently is soak the Beans longer and put it in the blender after cooking. It is soooo good. Yum!

I know what you mean.... my first puree food was baby food, turkey and "gravy". I thought it was Heavenly. I have moved on to puree steak , chicken etc, To make sure I get the required Protein I start the day off with a double scoop of Protein Powder in skim milk. I am now on soft foods..Yea!! but I still get that jolt of protien from shakes early in the day. It also helps get the required amount of Water.< /p>

I was told corned need hash puréed is a good one -- or make a beef stew for your family minus the potatoes and puree that -- not very pleasing to the eye but tasty and has Protein. I add unflavored Syntrax Nectar protein to everything - chamomile tea, sf pudding, crystal lite, Soup, cream of wheat, etc. make sure when you add into hit liquids not to exceed 130 degrees. I am 11 days post of and down 21.5 lbs ... Walking 2 plus miles a day and eager for puréed entree on Monday!!!!!????????????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
