I am having surgery March 20th and just realized that is right before Easter. I realized I will need an excuse not to eat as much as normal or even completely miss it. I'm thinking I will be getting over a "stomach virus". But this got me wondering what other excuses have people thought of for getting off work or out of events for their surgery when they didn't want to or weren't ready to share the truth with others around them.

Detox diet was what I said .... it's so acceptable to be on a diet these days. Then you can bring out your Protein Shake and they won't think anything of it :)

I have a long week of formal dinners and drinks my first week back at work that i can't skip. To make matters worse, there's always gossip at these events that when a woman doesn't drink she MUST be pregnant. I plan to eat Soup for dinner, and use the excuse that I needed something light after all the other nights of heavy meals. For the drinks I'm going to tell the waiter ahead of time to bring me virgin drinks, regardless of what I order. A friend did this when she was pregnant and didn't want people to know yet.

It sucks that people are so critical of this surgery. I have also told select few people, hoping that eventually ill be able to just tell everyone I know. But a part of me just isn't ready yeyt. The detox diet sounds like a winner! Or help serve/ keep self busy so that it won't look weird when you don't ait down for the meal with your family.

I told my boss that I was having a procedure done and didn't go into detail. I also shared that I wouldn't be able to do heavy lifting. I'm sure he assumed female issues and didn't pry. He just said okay. As far as friends and family are concerned, my family knows and are supportive. In the past, if there is something I don't want to do, I say that. I know people are often curious, but, if I don't want to share, I don't and I say so. "I don't feel well" or "I'm dieting" and the like work well. I usually just say "no thanks".

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
