Help! Having trouble eating...

Ok, I was sleeved on 12/28/12. My surgeons plan post op is one week Clear liquids and then two weeks of full liquids, then two weeks of soft Proteins, and then to the "new normal". I started the soft proteins on 1/18. The first day wasn't too bad. The second and third day I had a hard time. I know saturday was my fault, we went to Sams and i had a sample of smoked sausage. the lady didn't bother telling us it had jalapeños in it. I thought I was going to die!!! Sooo painful! All I seem to be able to handle so far is eggs. I can't seem to find the happy medium between eating the right amount and feeling like I am about to rip my sleeve! I ate 1/4 of a cup of ham salad and couldn't finish it and later, my stomach hurt like I had eaten at a buffet.

My other issue is Water. I keep getting dehydrated. I work strange hours and for about 4 hrs of the day I can't drink at all. I am having trouble with the nothing to drink during or after meals and then remembering the rest of the day! What is wrong with me? This is not that difficult! And don't even get me started on my vitamins! I can't remember those things for anything!

I am really starting to regret my decision. I can't imagine living the rest of my life like this. I did this to get my life back, to have energy, and to feel better about myself. I can't do anything right now without feeling so tired that I need a nap. I work 10am - 2pm then 6pm - 10pm. When I come home between classes, I can't keep my eyes open and have to take a nap. I am really not happy. I need some advice.

I had my surgery on 12/27/12, yes it was hard at fist but every day does get better, I can still really only eat like 3 or 4 bites of food at a time depending on what it is, I use to love spicey deff cant have that anymore, lol, but I have found I crave for nothing I only eat to give my body what it needs. just keep at it and it will get betting I still have a hard time getting my Water in but I am closer the last few days then I have ever been so I am happy with that. My back issues are gone and am feeling so much happier, I love that I dont crave anything and that I am not always hungery it makes things so much nicer, as far as reflux yes when I got off the meds it was still there I just got off them again and doing better today I had some issues but think it was because I had some steak that had to much pepper on it so it ruined the rest of the day for me, wont be doing that agian, :)

Good luck

What meds are you taking that help with the reflux?

I, too, just eat to suffice my stomach pains, but really am sick of the same foods, chicken, banana or apple with Peanut Butter, cottage cheese, Soup, greek yogurt, string cheese . . . any suggestions?

Prilosec is what I used yeah use just have to keep trying things if it doesn't work one day wait a few weeks then try it again every day is diff to what works one day doesn't the next

I was sleeves on February 13th and have lost 31# since surgery and 46 overall. Definitely feeling good about my weight loss but eating has been tough.

The first 2.5-3 weeks was pretty smooth but the transition to soft foods was really hard. At the same time I was really tired of eating all of the liquid foods (cream Soups, broths etc) so I found myself getting really sluggish and tired. I was back to work but ended up having to take extra days off due to the sluggishness.

A few days have passed since then and I'm starting to feel a but better. My surgeon suggested taking in an extra Protein shake or bar. BAR? I didn't know I could eat a bar, what great news. I tried Pure Protein Bars and they went down pretty well, just had to chew them up well. The extra 20g of protein from those bars really helped! Last night my family had cheese pizza (lent) and I decided to have a very small slice and it was awesome. I was able to eat it because it was a take and bake and really soft. I was really happy to eat something normal! Afterwards we went to my son's little league game and I tried a few bites of a plain soft pretzel, again, went down great. It was really soft, bland but tastes great and filled me up. We have family in town tonight and are planning on going out to dinner. We've decided on Mexican food so I was happy to hear people were able to eat refried Beans, I'll definitely give that a shot tonight!

liquids have been tough but I started breaking up the Water by drinking diet snapper peach iced tea. Tasted very good and seems to go down much better.

I keep telling myself that this will get better and like many of you, I've had times asking myself why did I do this, but slowly I'm seeing get better and I'm hopeful for the future.

Take care and remember why you did this in the first place and that'll help you get through this.

Sorry for all the typos in that last post. I should have proof read my iPhone autocorrects. Snapple iced tea, not snapper... Lol.
