Doubting & super worried

Oh yes! It definitely helped but one question... Did you ever have a moment before surgery when you thought.. Why can't I just lose the weight naturally? On my own?

Thanks so much for the advice and I am researching ALOT! Can anyone tell me how they came to a final decision? I'm afraid of doing all the research and still have doubts.. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

When youre really ready, you know you are without question. That does not mean you dont have any concerns or fears but you know youve exhausted all other efforts and your health depends on it. Two years ago when the thought entered my head to get wls, it scared me and i decided to eat healthy and exercise. I lost and gained back yet again. I now know with certainty that this is right for me. Good luck in your search to find whats right for you.

Yeah I had those thoughts all the time. I am from Scotland and its a two year wait before surgery and you are required to lose 10% of your body weight in the first year a d then at least maintain it in the second. After I did this I asked my surgeon if he thought I could "go it alone" He said it was up to me but in his opinion surgery was for the best as this would ensure that I wouldn't gradually fall back into bad habits and the weight go back on. He said that 90% of people that have over 9 stone to lose, without surgery would put the weight back on.

In Scotland we don't pay for surgery, so he had no reason to lie about it.

I am 10 weeks post op and can honestly say I don't regret it at all. I'm not going to lie, the first couple of weeks were rough but now that I'm through them every day becomes less and less obsessive about having had the surgery and more about living a "normal" healthy lifestyle.

I am 3 weeks post op and I feel it was the best decision for me, I have already list 25 pounds and feel pretty good. My doctor repaired my hernia at the same time and it is amazing to not have had heartburn in 3 weeks. I am still healing and should get to start eating regular food next week. One side effect that I didn't expect, is that I am not hungry at all and really gave not craved much food. I have to plan to drink my Protein Shakes and try really hard to get all the liquids in my system. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
