It didn't hurt me. It was removed on day three before I left the hospital and removal didn't hurt either.

Depends on how ,deep its in, when they removed my spleen and pancreas it was pretty deep and really hurt. Gallbladder was a peace of cake. Lol

The Drain itself didn't hurt but since mine had been in for over a week it started to hurt towards the end where the skin was trying to heal around it and then everytime you bumped the drain it would hurt the new skin. So it mostly depends on how long they keep it in, in my opinion. Hope that helps, good luck.

I had the drain in for 5 days and it did hurt. The drain was under my breast bone tmi:-). However, it did not hurt when it was removed.

Good luck

I had mine in 5 days post sugery. It was mostly just uncomfortable when dressing/showering. I recommend finding some slightly tight mens T shirts with pockett. Place the drain pump in the pocket and the snugness of the shirt will keep the dressing around the insertion point snug and comfortable. When it was removed it was simply a pulling sensation, consistent speed in removal is key. Within a day the incision mostly healed on its own when covered by a bandage.

Mine was placed during surgery monday am and it was pulled before going home Wednesday around noon. While it was in it was just uncomfortable like - i felt it something there - and it contributed to the god awful hiccups since it was close to/on my diaphragm. I must say her pulling it (about 8") had to be one of the worst things ive ever felt - yes worse than the catheter coming out.

Apparently everyone is different because I barely even knew the drain was there but when it was removed I cried like a little baby and even spewed a few curse words at the nurse. That hurt! I did apologize afterwards, lol.

I had my drain tube in the 5 days I had to be in the hospital. I had to go home with it in from Mexico (I had a bleeding problem after surgery) for another 13 days. To say the least it SUCKED! It hurt so bad around the drain site where the skin started to grow around the tube and every time I moved it would bleed and I would have to change the dressing. It hurt really bad when they pulled the stitches out around the tube but the pulling out part did not hurt at all. It was heaven when it was finally gone.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
