Halloween:What do you do with those Scary Tricky Treats?'Fess up!

This is my--and my children's--first Halloween without me partaking in the consumption of:

Chocolate and gummies and Caramel--Oh my!

Halloween for me will be the first holiday that I will not be eating the treats that usually would have killed any diet I had been on before. But, so would Thanksgiving, vacations, Birthdays, office parties, etc.

My surgery is Nov. 9, and I've been on the Protein only diet as directed. My kids mean well, but they've been trying to get me to eat just a little piece of nondiet food. It's actually easier to stay on my diet when I'm alone than with someone, which is the opposite of what I had done in the past years: eat in secret.

I absolutely am on the right path with my new way of life, but I do miss some of the old yummies.

Anyone else out there, miss just a little bit, those treats of days gone by? So, how do you deal with it?

C'mon, Fess up--noone's lookin'!

Thanks.:phanvan :guess

So far, most of it doesn't appeal to me, boy do I hope that lasts!

If I really want something, I have a little bit of it. Otherwise, I'll just obess about it!

Never was much of a candy eater (bypassed crap like candy for crap like cheese and desserts). But I do have a weakness for Peanut Butter cups, pieces, anything really. When a craving really strikes, I go get a child's size Concrete (what the local custard shop calls their version of the "Blizzard") with Peanut Butter cup mixed into 99% fat free frozen custard. Or I have one or two small, Halloween-sized cups.

My theory - if you have a craving, indulge it, in moderation. If people are craving something and they tell themselves, "No, you can't have it" -- maybe you feel proud for a little while, but eventualy your craving comes back. Usually with a vengeance. Then you end up over-doing it and eating way more than you would have eaten had you just had the few bites it took to kill your original craving.

Lately I've been craving Cookies, which is weird because I never cared much for Cookies pre-op.

And I also use my Protein drinks to help satisfy cravings. E.g. I will mix chocolate Protein powder with a spoonful of peanut butter, whiz together, and kill two birds with one stone. Or mix vanilla powder with about 1/3 packet Butterfinger mix. Or make some homemade peanut butter (MUCH healthier than what you can buy).

That's my philosophy, too! So, I'm going to have one piece of Halloween candy (if I really want it), but no more than that! Any leftovers get donated to our local firestation on Wednesday morning.

Halloween isnt celebrated in Australia except for a few pesky kids that come knocking on the door looking for lollies. But because it isnt celebrated, I dont have any and tell them to go away. Because I dont have them, I dont eat them, but lollies and candy are not my thing anyway.

I have heard it suggested to buy Halloween candy that you have no interest in so it is not as much of a temptation. Unfortunately, I have bought the type of candy that I love, I have just kept it hidden and out of the way to avoid cheating.

Unfortunately, they are doing this "secret santa" type thing at my work, but for halloween with treats, and I have received a few that I wasn't able to not take part in....but i got back on track a day or so later! Good luck everyone!

I love Halloween. I love chocolate and such. This weekend was hard I went to a Halloween party and every table had a center piece full of candy bars. I wanted one really bad but I am now two weeks out so I didn’t even look at them anymore. This is a commitment :P I told myself and I pulled out my shake and drank that. Its not easy

That's a good idea! We are buying ours tonight, that's a huge change from the days we'd buy it a week or two ahead, eat it all, and have to buy more. And eat it, and have to buy more... :faint:

The day after Halloween is the hardest. All my wonderful co-workers bring their left-over candy into the office.

I haven't given out candy at halloween for what... 15 years? I give out silly little toys instead. Goooy eyeballs, tops, party pack toys. I buy them year round.

But we don't get many trick-er-treaters, which makes me sad... But I always make the kids do a trick for me :P Hey, is' in the rules isn't it? They want a treat they have to do a trick... This usually kills the moms that are standing down the walkway, they try valiantly and unsuccessfully to stifle their laughter while I make their beloved children bark like puppies or dance like bears... then I let them pick out what they want from the big bowl of toys. And it's a big whoop of joy.. SHE GIVIN' OUT TOYS!!!!!

I give out $1.00 bills, last year there were two of them, LOL, my gsons. I live down a dark, private lane, so I haven't had to worry with candy.< /p>

I would reply to this thread, but my fingers are gooey from the melting kit kat bar that I am eating. :faint:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
