OK, how's this, I believe that GOD gave us freedom of choice, but I also believe GOD does not give us the freedom to choose the consequeces of our choices. Have a nice day :)

Hmm when I read the bible I see 10 commandments. The number of verses don't confuse me at all. I guess we just see things differantly TOM :). I think its pointless to argue about numbers, whats important is the message. Wether you want to get the message from 10 commandments or 22 verses or whatever, matters little to me. I have a great feeling about my own understanding of right and wrong in terms of religion, morals, family, God, etc. I have a blessed life. I try to do my best in everything I do. If in the end it doesn't measure up on judgment day.. I won't know until I get there.

I see 11 in Exodus:

#1. Exodus20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

#2. Exodus20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the Water under the earth:

#3. Exodus20:5 & 6 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

#4. Exodus20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

#5. Exodus20:8,9,10 & 11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

#6. Exodus20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

#7. Exodus20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

#8. Exodus20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

#9. Exodus20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

#10. Exodus20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

#11. Exodus20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

But then again, what gave me the right to decide where to break up the text?

I see 11 in Deuteronomy 5:

#1. Deuteronomy5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

#2. Deuteronomy5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

#3. Deuteronomy5:9&10 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

#4. Deuteronomy5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

#5. Deuteronomy5:12-15 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

#6. Deuteronomy5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

#7. Deuteronomy5:17 Thou shalt not kill.

#8. Deuteronomy5:18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

#9. Deuteronomy5:19 Neither shalt thou steal.

#10. Deuteronomy5:20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

#11. Deuteronomy5:21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Anyway, getting back to the original point of the thread.

It is great that the New Jersey Supreme Court has ruled that the constitution does not allow discrimination based on gender.

HOWEVER:

This ruling coming at this time, less than two weeks before the elections, may cause the people who think that it is more important to stop gays from getting married than to stop all our other American values from going down the tube, may come out and secure the congress for 2 more years of Republican rule. If enough come out, there may be a constitutional amendment passed against gay marriage/unions.

Vote to Stop Gay Marriage and you vote for:

Torture -Yes

Habeas Corpus-No

War -Yes

Stem Cell Research -No

Deficits -Yes

Checks and Balances -No

Global Warming -Yes

Obscene Oil Profits -Yes

Big Business -Yes

Health Care -No

Tax Cuts for the Wealthy -Yes

Personal Freedom -No

Freedom of the Press -No

Middle-Class survival -No

Minimum Wage Increase -No

I have not in anyway said I'm an expert on the Bible or the subjects thrown at me on everything from Judism to Pasta believers, or whatever.

I am a sinner just like you and do not claim to follow every little thing in the Bible. Old or New. I do listen to tapes and read the Bible. I can not even begin to answer questions on Judism or pasta worshipers, or whatever, but I am asking forgiveness for my sins daily and only hope His grace will given in the end. I am trying to change for the better and isn't that what it's all about? I am so sorry I started this and only hope it got just even one person to thinking of something else other than wanting to make me out a bad person for my choice on that stupid banana. Or the fact that I try to live my life through God's word. "TRY" being the key word here.

The banana is gone from my signature because it seems to offend some. I chose it because it looks exactly how I feel, expecially since I started this subject. I can not believe I am being cruified for having a stupid shaking banana that has big boobs, I could not find a FAT one so this is what I settled for. Anyway it is gone for good.

This should take care of the complaints on that subject anyway. GEEZ

Geez Carol, who cares what any person thinks of your shaking banana. I don't think a cartoon character with breasts is in anyway unchristian or unholy or whateva anyone might think. I always do whatever I think is best for me, I don't let anyone else decide for me! Who are they to judge you? There is only one judge. So if you want a boob shaking banana have one. To thine own self be true.

I just kinda got sick of hearing about it, I will miss it though I thought it was funny looking, maybe I can go back and look for a Fat one and that won't seem so risky.

Its funny how when ppl disagree with someone's point of view they look for silly little stuff to nit-pick about. I don't agree with everything you say, I don't agree with everything ANYONE has to say, but I would only hope I would not stoop to being a nit-picker lol. Rock on Carol, whatever you decide to do.

Thanks Karik, I needed to hear that after all this other stuff. I certainly don't expect anyone to agree with everything everybody says, but certainly not stoop so low as to pick on a defenseless banana! Ha Ha

Carol, Please put you cartoon back.

The reason I have been debating with you is that you keep writing about the New Testament supplanting the Old Testament, but then keep pushing for the 10 Commandments (which would be in the Old Testament if they were in either Exodus or Deuteronomy).

My Bible, BTW, has both the Old and New Testaments in it.

But the Old Testament in my Bible is not the same as my Jewish friend's Old Testament.

Many political decisions were made into what was going into the Bible and what didn't. And God didn't make those decisions.

I think you guys are great for missing my banana but it is not that big a deal, I'm going to look for a fat one w/ big boobs it fits me better, I think that other one was a little to sexy for me anyway. I loved the expression on her face though. That's one of the reasons I picked it. If you knew me you all would say that fits me to a tee, except for being to thin. lol

I am a sinner just like you and do not claim to follow every little thing in the Bible. Old or New. I do listen to tapes and read the Bible.
I hope those tapes are a word for word reading of the Bible.

I say that because last week, I was in a waiting room while my truck was having a GM call-back done, and I found up a copy of a Bible for children. I had heard of them, but I expected a translation of the bible from the words commonly used in the bible to modern English at a grammar school level so that a child could understand it.

Instead, it was a total distortion of the bible. While many may have had no qualms about what was written in this book, many others might feel that the author put too much of himself and not enough of the bible into this children's bible.

The tapes are from the Bible instructed by God. Our church uses New Internation Version, King James, New King James, American Standard, and forgive me but can't think of the other two or three used. Our church does not turn away gays, murders, rapist, no one, everyone is a child of God.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
