Anyone Have United Healthcare?

I am have United Healthcare. I work for UHS. They told me on the phone I am covered for Bariatric Surgery and only gave the requirements of BMI 35 to 39 with two co-morbitities or above 40. I am worried I read all the hell the insurance companies have been putting people.

Congratulations! Way to go! Good luck! Best wishes! Hip hip hurray! That's your x-mas present lol

This is my Xmass and Birthday present. My Birthday is January 12 and Surgery is January 14.

I kinda wanted to know that too...I imagine they may get mad lol...wouldnt want to sway their decision ;)

Well I called twice a day in the am and pm lol...... It never really sounded like the same person.

I have United Healthcare and did not need the 6 mos diet. I provided everything else requested and was approved on the first submission within 4 days. I am now 2 weeks post op. Good luck and happy to help with how I documented everything.

Hello lexi710, I meet with my surgeon on 1-14-13. I have UHC PPO. How did you document? I have no comorbities, BMI 39. I hope I won't have to jump through hoops.

I have United Health Care and I was told in April/May that I was covered for the lap band or the sleeve. The sleeve is what I wanted so I started my 6 month supervised diet that UHC required and got all the medical clearances for surgery that my surgeon required along with the NUT visit, the psy eval etc. I was finished up with everything in October and UHC promptly denied me....I couldn't believe it! I have pseudotumor cerebri and have basically had a constant migraine for about 10 years. The insurance company said that wasn't a co-morbidity. My surgeon had to call the insurance company and have the decision reversed.

UHC I submitted my paper work on 12/1 was approved by the 5th had my surgery on the 19th

My claim went straight didn't have to wait or jump thru any hoops I've lost 24 pounds in 11 days :)

That's great they reversed it! I have PTC too and when my surgeon had the peer to peer. The medical director literally laughed on the phone about PTC. :-/
