All Dr. Garcia's Sleeved Patients, Please Give Your Weightloss Amounts And Timeframes.....thanks!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 11/8/12 and at the 2 week mark I was down 17lbs.. I weigh in again this thurs ( I vowed to do it once a week). I think it depends on the person though and not the surgeon.

People all heal up at different paces and with that are able to eat/drink more then others or some can exercise while others may not be able to or just may not be doing it. Just lots of things to take into consideration :)

I am very please with my results I am happy with the scale but even more please with the inches that I seem to be losing to me that speaks in volumes. I have not measured but clothing is fitting differently and just so excited about that!

Good Luck! :)

That was awesomely detailed, Ty so much.

Tami, are you going through Ready 4 a Change? They sent me the pre and post op information. The diet starts 7-14 days prior and the. There's the laxative and stricter all liquid 3 days prior.

tami88 ~ I started my pre-op diet 7 days prior to surgery date. In that time I lost about 8 pounds. Dr. Garcia requires a Protein Drink for Breakfast and lunch and then a light dinner of a lean Protein and a salad. I was happy to learn this because some doctors require a 2 week pre-op diet of straight liquids only... AHHH that would've killed me I think. LOL

Do make sure you have your passport ready.... my husband and I didn't have one so we ordered the passport card for land and sea travel only. It arrived in 3 weeks and was half the cost of the typical passport book. We did not need the passport crossing over into Mexico, but we did need it for coming back into the United States. It's CRAZY the amount of people and cars at the boarder!! Definitely a site to see!

Don't worry if you don't exchange US currency for Mexican $$... most took US currency.

When at the hotel recovering, walk the hallways as much as you can.... definitely helps with recovery and keeps the blood pumping! It was much nicer walking the hallways at the hotel compared to the hospital.

Bring a camera! I'm a photographer so of course I'll suggest this!! LOL :) But seriously, you never know what experiences you'll have. :) Samuel took us to the Coronado and the ocean in San Diego on a drive back to the airport... such a beautiful place! Of course if you haven't been to Tijuana before, lots of things to take pictures of. I am glad to have had my picture taken in front of the ocean as a reminder of just how I looked... before this amazing journey.

Alma told me that, us SLEEVE patients, didn't need to do the laxative... I would verify with her about that. I did NOT do the laxative. I think that is mostly for BYPASS patients.

Hey Amytug, I am giving then my deposit on 12/15. I will double check my emails from Alma. I might have overlooked with all the emails I was getting a little crazy when I was researching and getting tons of emails.

Does he give blood thinner meds after surgery?

To be honest, I'm not sure.... they only thing I can think of is I did get a shot, with a very tiny needle, in the stomach each day I was there... so maybe that was what that was. I remember them telling me what it was for but I didn't quite understand the nurse doing it... was probably sleeping LOL!! I did have the compression socks on during the duration of my hospital stay.. but then did not wear them at all afterwards once in the Hotel or on the 4 hour plane ride home.

Speaking of plane ride home.... on the way to San Diego I sat in coach... BUT on the way home I opted for 1st class!! I'm so glad I did.. it was way more comfortable and I'm really happy I did. The only downside was that 1st class got served a meal and I couldn't eat anything.... i SOOOO wanted to eat something! LOL So if you can afford it, definitely fly back home first class.

I emailed him about this and he said that yes, they do use anticoagulants after surgery. :)

amytug ~ Sorry... but I used my miles to purchase my plane ticket so not exactly sure. It is rather expensive I believe to get 1st class... unfortunately we couldn't really justify paying the extra for my husbands upgrade to 1st class so he sat back in coach... I'm thinking it may be like 100 or more for 1st class????

I am a patient of Dr Garcia's and I still post here quite frequently. I have not posted a before/after though, because I want to wait until I hit the one year mark. So far I have lost 95 pounds, and I look and feel wonderful.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
