I have heard that you can get a patch from the hospital (scopolomine?), but just in case they don't have one, is that something that my PCP can prescribe me to take with me to the hospital?

I get nausea and throw up after I have anesthesia :( So I am anticipating the worst, lol

I had the patch and all the medications. From my experience nothing helped. I vomitted the first 2 days. I asked them to take me off the pain meds and that helped out alot. The nurses kept pressing the pain pump button and I was not in pain. They said it put me to sleep and out of the discomfort of throwing up...

Everyone is different you may not having any epsiodes at all!

I just picked mine up at the pharmacy today. The Nurse practioner prescribed it to me on the day we set my surgery date (9/26). I don't see why your PCP couldn't prescribe one as well.

I will be putting it on tonight before I go to bed. I've never had surgery, so not sure how I will respond to anesthesia. I don't get naucious very often, but I don't mind being prepared so I don't. Surgery tomorrow at noon....will be so glad to get to the other side and start the healing! Good luck to you!!

I had to give myself shots for a different surgery, it was very helpful. Make sure you anesthesia doc knows your concerns and can give you something in your I V. Be careful cause they do slow your digestion.

They stuck a patch behind my ear before I went into the O.R. I had never had anesthesia before so I don't know if it would typically make me nauseous, but I didn't get nauseous at all.

Not all nausea is caused by the anesthesia with this surgery though so an anti nausea anything might not help. I was vomiting for the first 12 hours post surgery and the doctor told me it was completely normal as your stomach and esophagus are swollen. When the sides of either one touch (from swelling) you will vomit as your body sees it as a blockage and gets rid of anything that might be trying to get through.

Anti nausea meds will not help that.

Good luck to you all who choose this journey.

Get the patch. Your PCP will have to give you a script for it.

Shower night before surgery

patch behind the ear after shower

Wash hands (don't want patch residue in your eye)

Don't shower morning of surgery

Enjoy and Good Luck

Behind Right Ear. Don't know why. Just what my Dr said.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
