Just gotta say...

All this A Lighter Me and Ready for a Change coordinator drama is very off putting. It makes it hard for those of us who are putting our money, and more importantly, our lives in the hands of these surgeons to make the right decision, and trust in it. Dr. Garcia. Dr. Kelly. Dr. Lopez. What is true? What is crap? I think I may go back to my original choice. Dr. Ponce. There doesn't seem to be a drama factor and he is well reviewed by people on here.

Amen sisters. I'm glad to come across this post because I was having doubts and "doctor envy".

Exactly the way I'm feeling. Such tactics can give excellent surgeons a negative image. A disservice more than anything... Also it muddy's the waters and scares off the "fence sitters".

Listen!!! Dr. Ponce is a wonderful Dr. and is Chief of bariatric surgery in TJ Mexico, most likely taught all of the above Dr's mentioned above, since he has been doing WLS since 1995...go with your heart and go with Dr. Ponce!!! I just had my surgery Oct 22, and would do it again in a heart beat!! I know of 4 medical professionals including me who went to him and have absolutely no regrets, and no complications!!

Actually, 8 pounds lost pre-op and 16 pounds lost post op and I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op I weigh in again on Saturday... crossing fingers it keeps going well.

Terrific still! This gives me alot of hope, At the rate you're going you'll be skinny in no time!

I agree! We've got enuff on our plates without adding that drama crap and fueling it.

I had heard that some coordinators were doing that to Dr Kelly but I hadn't heard about others. I don't think it's the surgeon's fault, but of course you don't want to support or give money to a coordinator that uses such business tactics. I think whichever surgeon you choose will be fine ultimately, but I do understand where you're coming from. I was quite happy with Trish (for Dr Ponce) if that helps. How are you doing since surgery?

I'm doing great since surgery Retakk, it's been an easy recovery for me. Going crazy on clear liquids and wish I could chew something, but I don't feel any hunger.

I keep thinking that I'm gonna die on the table in Mexico... When I had my csection, my Doctor told me to be sure and tell any other Doctor if I'm having a surgery that I'm a heavy bleeder... So now I think that I'm gonna die by internal bleeding or something. I'm freaking out lol

I totally understand your fears. Make sure you let them know you bleed heavily...

Just another thread stating Dr Garcia has had several fatalities per coordinators, I think? I chose Dr. Lopez, but I am not okay with all this drama. It is discouraging. Who knows what is fact and what are lies to redirect business?

I am also booked with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Osuna. On another thread here though, I read that a patient got to TJ for her surgery and they had replaced Dr. Osuna with Dr. Garcia without notifying her before she got there! Just ask lots of questions to be prepared for whoever you do chose

For all of you that are going to TJ for surgery with Dr. Lopez, it is my understanding that for now, Dr. Osuana is NO LONGER doing suregery in TJ with him, she has her own practice (In Puerto Viarta maybe?) Where her family is based and her 2 children live. Because of this, she is no longer travelling at this time to TJ to do surgery. PLEAS PLEASE know this before you go, ask Ronda or Janese, maybe it ahs changed. I found this out only 3 days before boarding my plane to go to TJ for the surgery. I admit, I was REALLY upset I felt like I had been lied to, but in the end I still went, and I'm thankful I did. I ended up looking at it this way. Lopez and Osuana are the only 'team' that I know of that advertises together, Ortiz (who assisted with my surgery) was trained by Osuana and Lopez. He has done over 500 sleeves himself now, and he is also a certified bariatric surgeon. Many Drs do not even tell you who will be assisting, so with Lopez you still have 2 certified bariatric surgeons instead of one, whether it is Osuana or Ortiz assisting. I also found Dr. Ortiz spoke more English, and he was the one who came to my hotel the night before I left and removed my drain. He was very personable, and had great bedside manner. Bottom line, just research a ton, and ask millions of questions! I know I did. I sought out previous patients of theirs on my own, I called Ronda and Janese both, and I ended up having a great experience. Whatever you decide, just remember when you are doing your research, no question is a silly question! YOu deserve the best experience ever! Don't rob yourself of that on accident!
