Jessie' date=' how are you doing?

Thank you iggy chick for being concerned and adopting me!;)

Well quick update, I am home ...yay.....not sure for how long!

They said I have no signs of a leak but they weren't sure where the fever was coming from, but since I went 24 hrs with out a fever they would let me go home!

Well I woke up about 2:00 this morn and fever was 101.5 and has been there since! I begged my husband not to call the doc till tonight and only if it got worse.

I feel like if I wouldn't have gotten the 2nd surgery I would be just fine! But what do I know!i have a horrid headache today and my tummy hurts terrible where they went in with the scope.

The plus side is that my son slept with me all night on the couch, and we took our other couch and put it right next to the one I was on so my girls slept there! I think it might have been the happiest time in my life!

I am really worried about dehydration since the last time! I am only able to get about 2 oz down at a time so I am just trying to sip sip sip!

I steps on the scale today and I have so far GAINED 8 lbs! So right now I'm really trying to figure out if this was worth it!

Please keep me in your prayers that I will not have to go back! And thank you all for being my rock and support!

I'm worried after reading this! I don't do well with surgery, I'm just beginning this process, as a matter of fact haven't seen the doctor yet, I'm just on their books! I'm 60 and this is my final option! I'm not sure to continue or not so I'm researching!! Any thoughts?

I would like to continue to follow you if that's all right! I'm praying you get better in a hurry! I'm in Ar. And surgery if I proceed will be done here! I'm gonna be in a wheelchair if I don't do something! I'm really scared either way

I'm glad you got to spend the night with your babies Jessie. I know that had to feel wonderful! But I am worried about that fever! Whatever it is, and I know it's hard, go back in and get to the cause hun. I nearly died due to complications and while the separation from my child was hard, very hard, dying would have been so much harder on him! Have they done a barium swallow on you yet! It's a leak test, different than an xray or cat scan. That was what finally diagnosed mine.

Keep us in the loop if you can. We all hate to see these stories, but now we are attached :). We want to kow when you are out of the woods...I would bet you do too!

As to the weight gain...I gained 40lbs the first six weeks. All from multiple surgeries, procedures and the IV fluids as well as the tpn feedings. That took a couple of weeks to get rid of but it does fall off. 8lbs is pretty normal and easy to get rid of.

But I also understand your regrets. I still regret the risks I took. I don't know if that will ever fade.

ITA with iggy. Fever is a symptom. Please call your doctors. Sometimes too late is just too late. Not to be alarmist but being realist. I am happy for you that you got to hold your babies and come home. Iggy's kinda earned Oracle status around here. She has body and experience wisdoms. She's a good one to attach to :-)

I gained 12 pounds during the VSG with swelling and IV fluids. I was in hospital two nights. So lots of IV. It was almost two weeks to lose that. Since then, I've never experienced a stall.

On Monday, I just had a second surgery for abdominal hernia repair. Quite a major second surgery. I am now 3.5 mos VSG post op. I was losing 2 pounds a week and quite pleased with my progress. I gained 6 pounds during this latest procedure. I am swollen (takes blood volume to swell) but had less IV fluids. I dropped one pound yesterday. I also walked a mile yesterday. (I am recovering well enough to move which moves the Fluid.) this very long post to say, your scale will move. Your body is holding Fluid and swelling in attempt to heal. You aren't gaining weight. Promise.

I wish you all my best for a quick resolution to this problem. I also hope for calm and a peaceful heart as you move into recovery.

I choked up blood clots post surgery for about two weeks. They told me it happens to some people and was nothing to get upset about. But these were clots not flowing blood, that would have freaked me out!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
