How To Lose The Last 10 Lbs.....

Recommended Posts

I am 6 months postop. I started at 236 lbs on May 1st, and today I weigh 146, and even though I am thankful and happy, I am starting to feel frustrated!!!!! my scale has NOT moved for about 1.5 months. I know stalls are normal, but I wonder if it will continue moving down! I still want to lose 10-15 more pounds! The last ones are probably the hardest, how did you guys get to your goal? My motivation is close to zero now, because my scale doesn't move.

I would like to see some responses from experienced sleevers on this question as well!

I am 7 mos post-op and have 13lbs to go. I am experiencing the exact same thing. I'll lose a few ounces and gain them back and lose a few more and gain it back. When I hit my weekly day to weigh in I've lost like 2-3 ounces which is better than nothing, but at this rate it is going to take me another 39 weeks to lose 13 lbs. I'm running a lot, still eating healthy and following all of the rules. I think this is just standard practice for the body on the last 15. Ugh!!! Good luck!!!

I am over two years out and have been in a stall for over a year... I too need to get rid of. at least, another 14lbs, 28 ideally, so I will be watching this thread to see of there are any ideas that I haven't already tried!

On the up side, I haven't gained in that time, so I am not worried about maintenance - in fact, I feel like my body has decided that this is it for me. For now anyway!

I was sleeved on 03/01/12 so I am about 8 months out. At 5 months I had lost around 95 pounds and then I stalled out. The past month I have been trying to get the last 18 off. When I started I had not lost anything in about 6-8 weeks. I started by eating only grilled chicken lightly marinated and drinking Water for a day then the next day going back to what I would normally eat... Then repeat. It hasn't been super fast but I have lost 6 pounds this month. :) I have 11 to get to goal. I can't swear it will work but it seems to be working for me. Good Luck! :)

Hello!! Is grrilled chicken all you eat ? Like only one meal? Or do you eat that throughout the day? I want to have plastic surgery to remove my abdominal excess skin, so I am willing to try anything to get to goal before the surgery. :)

I eat it 3 meals a day... More if I need a snack... Typically 2-3 oz 3-4 times a day... Only drink Water or unsweet tea

I am 10 months out and have 20 more pounds to go - see myself slipping a bit (had a couple of small halloween candies) - my plan is to sign up for weight watchers in January to try their plan again - my concern is that it is too much food for me - any thoughts?

Crystal, that sounds like a plan!! :) I will start tomorrow! I wonder if going back to 3 shakes a day like the two weeks postop could also have the same effect.

I've had to increase exercise from an hour a day to two hours 6 days a.week. it finally got the scale moving.

I just posted on this very topic. I've got 20 more to lose and I lose and gain the same two pounds. It's excruciatingly slow. I have been getting sloppy in my eating though and acting like I am more on maintenance.

Now I know that maintenance will be pretty easy on me, but I need to clamp down and stop with the treats I have been letting myself have. We just had a party and my house is stuffed with enchiladas, au gratin potatoes, lasagna, Pasta salad, chips, cheesecake and other temptations. I have been doing well, but well for someone on maintenance.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
