I Think I'm Pregnant 7 Mos Post Op 1St Baby!

Recommended Posts

I am nervous and scared right now. I am 7 months post op and I think I'm pregnant. Since surgery my Af has been regular every month. I had sex on 10/16 unprotected and I was suppose to start Af on 11/2 and nothing yet! I have been spotting pink 1 1/2 days and then it stopped. I have had headaches, lower back pains and a little nausea. Would this be a sign that I have a little peanut growing? I honestly think I am but I dont know if it's all in my head right now! I had the surgery for health reason and to get pregnant. This will be our first baby and I want this badly!! Has anyone experienced symptoms like this and ended up pregnant?

The symptoms you describe could be pregnancy...but could be nothing. lower back pain is a bit early (you have no reason to feel that given you aren't carrying a heavy tummy full of baby in front) but different women have different symptoms...hell different pregnancies have them.

Go to the store and get an EPT brand pregnancy test. Don't buy a cheaper one, and don't buy the digital. These are the most accurate early tests on the market, measuring as low as 12 ummm what's that early hormone??? Gad I went through three years of fertility work you think my mind would remember....anyway, really, take one of these tests and see what it says, then if pregnant call your doctor right now as you need to work on a nutrition plan, and if not, give it another few days and take it again, repeat until you either start your cycle again or get a positive result. HCG by the way (is the hormone LOL) Don't get a digital test as they measure above 100 HCG which only happens after a few more weeks.

I wish you the best! I hope you succeed where I was unfortunately not able to :) Babies are a wonderful gift to a family. Our only son had his 7th birthday today and even though it's been a struggle he's the glue that holds our family in place and a joy...even when you want to strangle them :P

Thanks, I'm pulling my hair out over here because I was expecting Af and this pink I'm seeing didn't seem right. I have been looking at things on the internet but what I have found thus far has my mind all over lol. And what topped it off is that my 2yr ( adopted) came came up to me out of nowhere and was pointing at my stomach talking in his language and when I asked him to repeat it he walked away! We all looked like what just happened lol.

I don't know all this is giving me a headache :( thanks for the response and happy birthday to ur baby :)

be sure to let us know how the test comes out! I do wish you the very best. I can explain many of your symptoms and easily link it to pregnancy....especially given the timing of your dance between the sheets :P so I think there is a high chance, but the only way to know for sure is to take that test, then get yourself in a doctors hands asap (by the way, spotting isn't a bad sign early on). I hope this is all you want it to be!

The pink spotting could be a sign of implantation bleeding... Headaches are a sign of early pregnancy... If AF was due on 11/2, I am assuming mathmatically you could have been ovulating on or around 10/16 when you had unprotected sex... You would be around 4 weeks pregnant and definately could take a pregnancy test now... Take one!!! I agree with iggychic...by the EPT test... Buy the one with PINK dye not blue... Blue sometimes gives a false positive due to dye runs and alot of companies aren't using it anymore... The EPT is accurate at very low HGC levels!

Well, I started bleeding today :(. I was feeling really weird so I went and took a blood pregnancy test. But it came back negative and she told me it could be early. I don't know I think it may be a true negative. I was so excited about that thought that I was a little upset. I'm ok, things happen for a reason and if it happens it happens. I thank u ladies for listening and responding to my post. I still have an appointment with my gyno on Thursday, I was gonna cancel but I think I should still go! I don't know!!

That's not physically possible. I think your SIL might have been exaggerating for drama. A blood test at a docs office will pick up as low as 2 HCG (the body can have as much as 4 plus one or two at certain times of the month and not be pregnant). I tend to have low HCG levels but they would never be that low or less than 8 to 12 even in the first few days of a viable pregnancy. Testing via blood within the first eight days of a pregnancy could register below 4 but after that the only way for a negative would be in a non viable pregnancy. An ultra sound can detect pregnancy or the presence of viable eggs unfertilized prior to pregnancy and definitely from day one or implant. Some tests now a days are black and white. Had she gotten a 20 HCG blood test (the OP) they would have said, maybe because it could be that it's not viable or possibly early, but there would have been a number that would have caused questions at this point.

OP. you want a pregnancy :). It's best after a year from surgery, but now is the time to meet with your doc and make plans for your babies future. Or your future baby :). That's a great way to get started as sleevers need to take special precautions for their health and that of the baby. I'm sorry this was a no....after three years of fertility work and seven lost babies, I know the excitement and disappointment, but it did get you thinking in the right direction. I wish you the best success in your family journey!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
