Jarrod no worries as posted in your other query, Dr Garcia is wonderful and so is his hospital. He has one floor it is a small hospital but also has an ICU if needed. His offices and staff are on the second floor. Pharmacy is on the first floor. Stop in there on your way out if you need any extra/more medications.

I had my surgery there with Dr. Garcia in June. It is a small hospital but it has everything you need. There's even a small sandwich shop type cafeteria on the first floor across from the pharmacy I believe. In case you bring someone with you. The room I stayed in had two beds. My husband was able to stay in the room with me. It had a small flat screen TV. It also had a window and a private bathroom. Very clean. I had a good experiance with the hospital and Dr. Garcia and his staff.

Thanks guys. Reading this helps me Feel confident I am making the right decision going to Mexico. My family and friends keep telling me I'm nuts, but I did a lot of research on Dr. Garcia and feel comfortable / hope I'm making the right decision.

Same with my family, they think I am crazy! They think Mexico, and the worst comes to mind! We have to remember that WE have done the research. I have been sending them good reviews I find if the Dr and hospital hoping it will ease their minds. But in the end, I am doing this for ME and I am the only one I need to convince ;)

Be confident in your decision!

Planning on Mi hospital in February, If you bring someone along with you to Tijuana and they don't want to stay in the hospital with you, can they stay back in the hotel or do they have to have a separate reservation to stay there.... I mean when you get to the hotel, do you leave your stuff there when you go to the hospital or does everything go with you and just get a new room at the hotel when you get released from the hospital? Just curious about my friend that will be coming with me for support.

i had my sleeve there 8/31 with Dr. Garcia. Absolutely no regrets. You do not leave your stuff at the hotel, you will be bringing it with you to the hospital, and will get a new reservation/room after you leave the hospital. If your support person does not wish to stay in your room with you, I would imagine they would be responsible for their own hotel room. Please feel safe in Mi Doctor and with Dr. Garcia. He and his whole staff are top notch. You are definitely in good hands, and they welcome any calls or concerns you have after you get back home as well. i have emailed Dr. Garcia a few times and have spoken with Dr. Velasco on the phone.

I am there right now. It is small, but clean with friendly staff. I bought a translator thing on my phone, just used it as they were going to give me a shot for veins. I asked if it was a blood thinner, just so I know. Most of the docs speak English well, some of the nurses not as well.

Dr Garcia came in with his IPad and drew me some pictures to explain. He uses a 32 bougie, unless you ask for bigger, just so you know. I have a latex allergy, and kept having to remind the nurses, but I've had similar issues with that in the US, so it's not unusual.

I was expecting to be walking laps, but it is more like a V. I am on the 3rd floor where the OR is though, so I don't know if its bigger on the fourth floor. Overall, nicer than I expected. Just not big. I think they said six rooms on each floor.

Also, we got to the hospital at 8, but didn't go into the room for pre op testing til 11. There is a lot of hurry up and wait here, so be prepared with something to keep you occupied. I loaded some audio books on my Overdrive app on my I phone.

Hope some of this helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
