Its very easy for people who have never struggled with their weight to say the things she did. Sure those people lost weight but lets look at them three months from now. You did the right thing and thats what is best for you! Screw her:-)

i was talking with a co worker in another dept. come to find out she is a trainer and really talked bad about the surgery and i should of seen her first and iwouldnt of had the surgery. and how she has clients that were a size 22 down to a 6 and the surgery was a bad idea. made me feel like i really did something really bad. i hate ppl like that. it really upset me. i told her i did everything she began to chestise me for not trying harder and how i could of done this without the surgery. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So she knew you had an irreversible operation and decided to chew you up anyway for not doing it "her way".

I would take an operation any day over spending any time with that unbelievable self-centered clod.

Soo true I was always an up and down lbs type of a girl! Every year since I was 21 I have gained 20-50lbs then loose and the it would creep up! I had it And finally decided to get sleeved!!!!

Yea me too!! It's not for most of us that we cant get the weight off its because we cant keep it off. I agree with everyone here. This is a lifelong change we want! 2,3 years from now where are those size 6 people. I swear people need to learn to zip their lips!!!!

I also agree-let's see where those clients are a year or two from now! Also, how many of these clients were losing weight for the first time? Big difference between a woman losing pregnancy weight than someone who has stuggled with weight their whole life! The best revenge is living well...you show that trainer that this was a healthy choice for you in the long run-it wasn't quick fix!

If I were her (of course I'm not), I would have asked the OP to come see me if she wanted help once she could exercise. What's the point of giving someone crappé for something over and done? Trainer could have gotten another client and success story instead of being a jerk.

You are a brave woman and a great example! Any health professional and I mean professional would just be happy that you took a step to loose weight and take care of your health! That woman is obviously not aware of the fact that if you could have just worked out and lost weight you would have.

Be proud and know that she is probnly exaggerating her own accomplishments with her clients.

New GM you're doing an amazing job and don't let some snooty personal trainer get to you.

Ya know Oprah Winfrey has had a very highly respected personal trainer, Bob Greene, and she can't seem to lose weight or maintain a weight loss.

So doing this with only a personal trainer is of benefit because???

You just keep doin' what you're doin' and when you're at a healthy weight - and when you're able to maintain that weight - we'll see what Mr. Smarty Pants has to say then.

Actions speak louder than words...your continued success will show that this was the best decision for you. I am 2 months out and have only told a couple of people for this reason.

I had a guy at work say something very similar. My response was something like "You are sooo right! Why didn't I think of just dieting and exercise before? What a novel idea! Oh that's right I did try that and look how successful it work for me over the past 30 years. I lost at least 300lbs in 30 years. Diet and exercise alone works so well for everyone that over 50% of America is overweight or obese". Of course I did this in front of a bunch of people at work. He felt like an idiot like he should have. He only has nice things to say now. ????

Wow that was rude!!! I don't know why so many people think that having weightloss surgery is the easy way out because it isn't. Heck it is no wear near easy!!! Keep your head up and don't let what she said get you upset because it you did what was best for YOU and so did everyone else here....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
