I haven't had the surgery yet but planning on going with Dr. Perez in Cancun, there are 2 others who had their surgery with him that I know of and had great results.

I used Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali and was thrilled with my experience. He is at the upper end of the spectrum on cost, but I personally think it was worth it. He operates in a modern hospital and you stay 3 nights after surgery in that hospital. I have had pretty good follow-up also.

Go over to the forum, "self pay mexico" you will find a wealth of information. I went with Dr Garcia in Tijuana, he is an amazingly skilled surgeon and very reasonable. He is fantastic and does his surgery in a hospital setting.

hello! I had my surgery on Sept 20th with Doctor Rod you can find the website at www.beliteweight.com I could not have had better care. Jessica was my facilitator and did everything to help me. I can say that she never once, NOT returned my call and even now if I have questions or concerns about anything, I still call her. Their driver, Alberto, met us in San Diego at the airport and even stopped so one of the ladies with us could get more gas strips, which I highly recommend! He drove us across the border to Tijuana to the motel where we met with the surgeon and owner and discussed what all was going to happen the next day. The price included a night at a beautiful motel and hospital stay. The staff at the hospital was excellent and I honestly did not have any complaints at all. I would do it again tomorrow!! Good luck!!

Chiki, what is your budget? There are many highly qualified surgeons in Mexico.

My personal choice was dr. Ponce de leon. His rate was 5500. I have heard he may have increased to 6000.

When I made my choice I was torn between Dr. Alvarez, Dr. Aceves, & Dr. Ponce de Leon. They are all very talented & exceptionally experienced. I couldn't find anything that indicated any of them were more qualified than the others. So basicly it came down to how much I was willing to pay for a newer nicer facility, and maybe a bit more hand holding.

Once I found out about Trish, Dr. Ponce de Leon's coordinator, my decision became very easy. Trish is in my opinion, an invaluable person to have in your corner.

I too paid $5500 with dr Ponce. And it was his coordinator trish that made me finally choose him. She is wonderful and really goes above and beyond.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
