  1. He did my revisions surgery back in 2012. So sad to hear this. May his soul rest in the Lord, he was an amazing man.

  4. Your story sounded exactly like mine. Had surgery in 2009, lost 90 lbs, was considered a lap band success story because I was chronically overfilled too. I spent so much money on fills .I didn't care so much for my lap band surgeon and his staff as well. After unfilling my band, I asked to revise to sleeve and he told me to go home and come back after 3 months. I had already gained 15 lbs back at this point. I said " you know what ? forget you. I came to this forum and started my research on going to Mexico. I was going to be self pay anyway. I ended up deciding on Dr Aceves . Tomorrow is my 5 months surgivasary. I am happier, skinnier and look absolutely fabulous. I can eat anything I want in moderation. I have a new found love for pear. I eat them like crazy. I eat grapes, watermelon, things I couldn't eat while I was banded. I have never had to rush to bathroom to throw up like I used to do on every outing while I was banded. I could go on and on and on why lap band is a bad decision. Your quality of life is so much better with sleeve.

  7. NSAIDs are definitely safe for short term use in Sleeve patients.
  8. try naproxen (Aleve) and see if it helps. that's what I usually recommend for moderate pain

  11. I told a few friends when I had my lapband surgery in 2009. One of my friends told her friends and when I heard it, I didn't like that. When I had my revision surgery in June, only my husband knew and that's the way I plan to keep it. It's actually nobody's business how I lost the weight.

  13. 4+ months out and not a single regret. I actually, I regret not doing it sooner. If your are new, give it time. the most important thing is that you follow your doctor's directives so that you won't get any leak.

  15. Better believe what you are reading on this forum...LAP BAND IS THAT BAD. I too was considered a success story with the band but after 3 years of hell with the band and just 4 months with the sleeve, I can tell you that lap band was a huge mistake.
  16. Surgery date was June 14th and I'm down 41 lbs. it was a revision surgery from lap band and I'm so so glad I revised. I look so much healthier at the same weight I looked sick with lap band. I don't even exercise and still the weight is coming off gradually. I can't believe I put my body through the crap of lap band for more than 3 years. I was 198 lbs the morning of surgery and 157 lbs this morning.
  17. you look so different...congratulations
  18. Hey everyone....just joined mfp. my username is the same------4weightlosssake-------please add me. I tried to add everyone and it says I can't request more than 5 friends every 10 mins
  19. I have lost 24 lbs since my surgery. I know it will slow down but I'm happy where I am now. I had been at this weight not too long ago as I lost 90 lbs with lap band (went from 250 lbs to 160 lbs) and gained back up to 198 lbs before my sleeve.
  20. I had to follow my post-op diet. I just started on real food yesterday. I had to wait 30 days post surgery to start real food. I can barely eat though. I'm at 175 lbs this morning, that's 23 lbs in one month. I have only exercised once this week (walked on the treadmill for 30 mins). I plan to exercise more starting from next week since I'm gonna be eating real food now.
  21. I went from Texas and paid $700+. I bought my ticket 5 days before my trip.
