Advice For Getting Back On Track

Recommended Posts

Hi, friends.

I had my sleeve done in June and I've lost almost 40 pounds - I'm about 15 pounds away from my goal weight.

But the time since my surgery has been one of major change, not just because of my sleeve; I discovered my husband was having an affair and we are since in the middle of a divorce. Since his affair ended (aka she kicked him to the curb), he has made things very difficult; he has refused to get a lawyer or sign documents, begged me for another chance, threatened suicide, etc. My little girl is not taking the split well at all and I've been taking her to see a counselor as well. Did I mention that work isn't going very well either?

I am not gaining weight, but the stress of everything has taken my focus off my sleeve. I'm still eating small portions for sure, but I'm not paying attention to WHAT I'm eating. And I haven't exercised in months.

I realize that part of my lack of focus is that I'm really happy with my current weight. I'm a size 12 pant and I can shop in any store I want. People are raving about how I look and I've even been on a few dates.

Still, I don't want to do this journey half-way. I want to make my goal weight, even if I'm only limping along right now.

Can anyone offer some advice on how to get back on track? Or some cheerleading? Or a wake-up call?

Mince, hang in there. Focus your energy on your little girl and the food you eat, the exercise will come in time. Have you tried my fitness pal to help track your food. The my fitness pal kinda keeps me in check and keeps me on track w/ my calories, carbs & Protein. You are a beautiful person, so be beautiful to yourself. Take a ME day for you & do something nice for yourself. Hang in there. Btw I'am Mermaid Girl - sleeved on July 31 - 3 months out I've lost 50 pounds.

So sorry about all the stress that you are under :( ! The end of marriage is never easy. Having a child makes this even harder to deal with. But you are right, you should still reach your goal. Go back to basics! measure your food, high Protein meals, low carb, plenty of Water. Also start taking your Vitamins and supplements. Keep your calories in check. With all that stress, exercise is your best bet right now. IT THE BEST STRESS RELIEVER!!!

I really wish you the best. Hope counseling will help you and your family move forward and find peace.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
