So..... I had my surgery 10/24 (Wednesday), and today when I got out the shower I changed the bandage over my drainage. Well this evening, I noticed that there was some lite-yellow-orange-Red ,color seeping through the gauze. Should I be concerned? I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind this thing anyways.....

The drain helps pull Fluid off from the incision site on your stomach-but more importantly it can also signal a leak if you start having a lot coming out of the drain. Leaking a little around the drain site is normal. Mine did the whole time. It seems to leak more after a shower and after I moved around a lot. The drain is not pleasant but hang in there--it will be out soon.

Congrats on your surgery!

All the usual warnings about calling your doctor to find out for sure, but... for now...I am a nurse and that sounds normal to me. Make sure it doesn't smell yucky. Cover with a clean gauze, if you have one. Relax....I think it sounds ok.

My nurse called to check in with me today, and she said it sounded normal also just to keep clean gauze on it. Thank you both for responding, I will admit that I am having a hard time getting 64 oz of fluids down though. I almost have no desire to put anything in my mouth....

Try to get in as much fluids as possible. You don't want to become dehydrated!.

I feel the same as you. I had my sleeve on 10/23 and am having a really hard time taking in my fluids. I had to stay in hospital an extra day because of being so nauseated. That has gone, but just having a hard time. I am DEFINITELY trying though! Don't want anything to go wrong! Good luck to you!

News flash!!!!! My mom bought me some cranberry juice, and it is absolutely the best thing since sliced bread!!! OMG It is getting rid of ALL THE GAS that the gas-x stripes are missing!!!! I know its tmi, but I haven't had this much relief since my surgery date without pain. I'm not sure if its the combination of the two, but its awesome......

Yeah we gotta hang in there, the cranberry juice made me feel better to be able to take in more Water this evening. The nausea hasn't been too much of an issue for me because I learned from previous surgeries that to stay In Front of it, I have to pull back on the pain meds and relax. I know some people have a harder time than others with the nausea even still. Try sipping a tiny bit every 15/30 min throughout the day, that has been more helpful for me today. My nurse also told me that all Fluid counts towards the 64oz, so don't forget about that too

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
