How Many Times Did You...

Recommended Posts

I was supposed to have my surgery in Cancun at the end of September, I cancelled the night before because I was very scared. I was going alone which was more reasons why I cancelled, if someone was going with me I probably would be sleeved right now.

Long story short, I am contemplating rescheduling for December in Cancun and although I will still be going alone, I will need to push myself through it (as hard as it may be).

My comfort zone is my house and going away, I get a lot of anxiety so will need to work on that for sure!!

Good luck.

Oh Hazelsmrf,

I'm so sorry that happened. Very disappointing, I'm sure. But they say that everything happens for a reason. Wish you could have rescheduled for Nov. 19 and be there with me. From what Trish said, he has no other surgeries that day. :)

I was on a really tight deadline, if I couldn't get the surgery in the first few weeks of November I would have had to wait until April to get it done. I have WAY too much anxiety to go through this alone so I *need* my husband there with me, and my mother was only available to watch my kids until mid November... after that she's gone to Arizona until late March or early April. Needless to say I was really panicked when my flight was cancelled, I was afraid that last minute fares for new tickets would be more than I could afford and that I'd have to wait until April. I was sobbing to my husband that I felt as though I lost 6 months of my life, dramatic much? :) Really though it was a huge blow on that day, I woke up at 3am to take my flight, got on the plane, and then when I got to the connecting flight found out it was cancelled... and I had to turn around and go back home. Booooo.

This time around though, I'm flying in the day before so that should help with some of the stress (It would have been hard to do 8 hours of flying when you're not allowed to drink ANYTHING - airplane air is so dry!) - at least now I can drink Water on the plane since i'll only be having surgery the next day.

Oh and just to say how sweet Dr Ponce de leon is... he was fully booked on the only dates that worked for me (due to last minute plane tickets, there was only a very small window where they were affordable) but he told me to go ahead and book it and that he'd fit me in. How often would a surgeon here say something like that!

I am supposed to send in my paper work tomorrow to have surgery on Nov 20th and now I find out I will have to go alone. And lots of other things going on here at home that make it difficult to put ME first. I will probably have to just forget it. I am just in tears. I want this so much, but I can't see me doing this by myself.

Oh I understand, it is heartbreaking! I will say though, I always told myself that there's NO WAY I could do this alone, and when I was almost faced with the need to wait until April, I seriously was considering it. I figured, what is 3-4 days vs the rest of my life? Of course I probably would have backed out too, I need my support system. How long would you have to postpone it for?

Unfortunatley, it won't be any better anytime. I will have to go alone. Very complicated story. I have lots of responsibility and no one to help me out.

Who is your surgeon? If it's Dr. Ponce I'll be there with you. :)

Gosh, I didn't realize you had gotten half way there only to have to turn around and go home. Huge disappoinment, for sure. Something wasn't right. Seriously, when things like that happen I really think that it's God's way of protecting you from something. Who knows? If that flight had not been cancelled it might have crashed. Who knows? Anyway, you've got you appt. and it's gonna happen.I'll be looking for your posts. :):):)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
