November Bandsters!

Tom: I had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery, and they said I should come for a fill whenever I can eat more than a chicken breast. I haven't, and I'm learning so much. Like you, I'm eating less than before... But with the holidays behind me, I'm going for a fill.

I wish my doctor would say to come back because I don't have another fill until the 22nd of Janaury. I got one at about 6 weeks and it was only 1.25 cc. Oh...I probably don't need more because I really haven't got my eating under any control and I don't want to mess up the band.

I do have some good news. On my scales, which is what I watch all the time. I finally broke through the 230's. I have been bouncing around between 235 and 228 for a couple of weeks. I think I finally got through I weighed 227 Saturday and here it is Tuesday and I still weigh 227!:clap2:

I don't think the citric acid is bad, cause we are encouraged to drink fruit juices. I keep grazing too. I think that could be my down fall. I gotta just toss the sweets that are still hanging around the house. I see the coconut caramel macaroons from costco and i just grab them. This is what LBT is all about. This site keeps me in lap band mode, reality check. I'm self pay and I read all of your posts and think what the heck am i doing. It will keep me on the straight and narrow.

Congats, prbrooksie on your weight loss. I think i gained a couple of pounds back cause of my grazing. I go for my 2nd fill in a couple of days. Sometimes i feel restriction and sometimes i feel no restriction. So does that mean the band tightens up and becomes looser at times? Seems like it.

Heck I don't know when, what or how we are suppose to feel. I don't think I have actually let myself feel hungry.

I really believe getting sufficient fill is going to be amazing. Mornings are amazing for me. I'm ready now. I want that feeling all the time. I really didn't think anything could help me, but that morning fill feeling is special. I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. What used to be impossible is now just really hard work. I'm as bad an eater as anyone, but this partial fill thin is giving me a hint.....

I was told NOT to drink juices...not because of acids, but because they are liquid sugar and likely to raise my blood sugar sky high and then plummet me into an eating binge. I get my juices by throwing a dash of jiuce into my Water jug.

I am curious if anyone else is going in for their 2nd fill. I got my first fill Dec. 20th. They did a moderate 1 cc fill since I was feeling some restriction with just the band. However, I am not losing any weight and have been up and down a few pounds since the fill. I think I can eat more than I should be able to eat at this point. And I get hungry in between meals. Should I give it a couple more weeks or go ahead and get another fill?

Hi Kickie girl.

I had my first fill, and it mostly absorbed into the dry band. I feel restriction most morning and a hint of restriction the rest of the day, but I can cheat like crazy if I don't slow way down and get mindful about my eating. So I checked the checklist of when you need a fill. (Go to search and put these words in...HOW TO TELL WHEN YOU ARE PERFECTLY ADJUSTED.) Then I called my Dr's office, and they just said if I can eat more than a half a chicken breast at a meal, come get a fill! So I'm scheduling.

You guys are such a big help with all of your testimonies. I am so glad the holiday goodies are over. That was hard for me to not eat the bad stuff especially the chocolate kisses. I am not eating any bread and I am scheduled for my first fill this weekend. I am feeling very hungry now that I am all healed so look forward to the fill. It is a long journey but I am trying to have the streighth to just keep moving forward and down the scale. It is the ol will power that is such a struggle everyday but that is why the band is so important to us to not end up overdoing it and being in pain. May you all have a very successful year of weight loss and personal triumph!!!!! Happy New Year Bandsters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I've had a Lupus flareup, now over, I think. I'm looking forward (!) to getting back to the treadmill. Ain't THAT odd!

It helps that I got an ipod shuffle for Christmas. What an amazing little gadget, and so much cheaper than the big guys. I'm still filling it with any songs I can think of that will be good for my workouts. Anybody have any favorite exercise or dance songs?

WOW, I love the success stories!!

Thank you Angela and Tom for sharing your personal journeys --- so hopeful and inspirational! You guys are so great and boy, do I need inspiration right now!!

I have been eating everything in sight and have gained back some of the weight I have lost since surgery. I could feel depression starting to grab ahold of me.... So today, I am making a fresh start and doing well, so far. And it has been a whole 8 hours!!! I get my first fill next Monday and I can't wait.

You all are doing so great!! Congratulations :clap2: !! I wonder if I made a mistake by waiting so long for my first fill. Now that I have tasted the "forbidden fruit" again it has become as natural to reach for it as before I had surgery. :cry Well, at least now I have you guys and this board for support and encouragement. Keep on fighting the good fight and I will be fighting too. 2007 has got to be a much better year for us all!!

Karen

I was thinking the same thing about diet pills. I just had my band done a month ago and have my first fill this Sat. and I am soooo hungry and feel like now that I am healed I could eat a horse. I am paranoid to overdue it so that has helped me but I will have to see when I get my fill if that helps with the hunger. I am going to ask my Dr. when I see him this weekend about Diet pills and I will let you know what his advice is. We are all worried about slippage or infection since if you are a full pay that is just more money. We have to be careful and eat small bites and not overdue it. I wish I could just turn that darn hunger switch off like a light switch.............Don't you? Darn Hunger...........Frustrating. I just try to think to myself ......wait until people start saying....WOW you have lost a lot of weight. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!! Take it one meal at a time!!! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
