Angela, I am finally getting over the diarrhea...:clap2: Now maybe I can walk a little bit further than from here to the bathroom?? I think switching to yogurt and thicker liquids made the difference...something for my body to work on alittle :) Thanks for sharing Penni's news. Oh, and I already know the great doctor in Ventura; Dr. Billie, right? I plan to switch over to him as soon as my insurance coverage runs out on the Fountain Valley doc I have now. Thanks for the info!! Yes, there is a train from Ventura to Burbank!! Let me check it out a little and I will get back to you with the info. That was a great idea!! Glad you are doing so well!!

Karen

Yes it is Dr. Billie! Glad you are better!! I will need a bit more Milk of Mag. tonight....

Do you know how to change the weight on the ticker tape without having to make a new one everytime?

Well, I am like a lot or you- getting bored with eating liquids. I think my stoma(is that what it's really called) is getting bigger due to the weight loss and I guess from the swelling going down. I know we aren't really supposed to be losing weight fast, but the first week it just flew off, and over the last 5 days I have only lost 1 lb! I know, I know. Just wait, it'll happen. Its so hard to do! I am so excited, and I want to get on with my skinny life!! O, and I forgot to crush my allegra on Friday night, so can you guess what happened Saturday morning after only having a few sips of Water? Yep. threw up. Only one time, so that's good. I thought I was going to die, the pain is so bad when you get blocked. I won''t be doing that again.........

Tom, I don't have very good ideas about the liquids, I am so bored with it also. I have frozen crystal light and enjoyed that. My birthday was the 7th, so I had a small small bit of ice cream, hey it liquefies! Imagine that. I also have as much water as I can stand, because I feel like I am getting dehydrated. And maybe a kidney infection, too. If you are still doing the Protein Drinks, I used some of the dry Protein Powder flavored strawberry, added about 4 real strawberries, some strawberry or vanilla yogurt, and some ice and splenda, it tastes pretty good. I did that pre op, tho, so I dont know how those seeds would go down post op. Most of them floated to the bottom, so you wouldn't get many if you don't drink the suds at the bottom.

Everybody, glad to hear you are all doing better. I think we need to start posting some of our "favorite" mixed drinks to share. I know there is a thread about that going on somewhere, but if you folks are like me, you don't have time to read many threads.

Kristi

Don't forget you can have Jello and yummy blended soups! :clap2:

Kristi, I was surprised to hear about the pill not going down....since I have been taking all my meds without crushing or breaking and they go down fine. One pill in particular is very large. The surgeon told me that I should do that because there is really no restriction without a fill and it wouldn't be a problem. Did you get a fill so soon after surgery?

Hi everyone, Boy I am really blowing it. How can I do this long term if I can't even go two weeks on the pre op diet. I could not take any more and had 2 slices of pizza tonight after 10 days of following the instructions. I weighed today and gained 4 pounds. No possible way. I think I have eaten less than 500 calories per day. I think it just freaked me out. I have surgery on Friday I hope I did not ruin my chance of having the surgery. After I ate it I had visions of them cutting me open and that stupid pizza sitting on my liver- got to laugh or I will cry. I only have 3 more days and I pray I can make it. I

Hey guys, I wanted to share some of my less boring pureed food ideas

My favorite is pureed broccoli with low-fat melted cheese and some salt.

I also love 1/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese with an ounce of avocado mashed in.

To get fancy, I made a turkey chili one night. I sauteed onion and green pepper in a tiny bit of olive oil, browned the turkey, added a can of chopped tomatos and a can of Tomato sauce and a can of red kidney Beans. I seasoned with salt, pepper, and a bit of cumin. Then cook for 45 minutes on low heat. It was delicious! It pureed very well and kept it's unique and certainly non-bland flavor.

Also, I just got a fantastic cookbook: Eating well after weight loss surgery.

It has amazing recipes from someone who is banded and I am in love!

Karen--My sister is less than 6 months in remission. She was diagonosed just over a year ago, and then through the radiation treatment was cancer free as of july 06!!

Too bad she doesnt seem to understand this surgery and is not too supportive of it... : (

Hi November Bandsters,

I am back from Tijuana. I have to say that Dr. Kuri and his staff were wonderful. The surgery was uneventful and so far really very little discomfort. Still on clear liquid. I feel like I want to burp all the time but dont -- like a bubble in my esophagus. So husband has gone to town to get heating pad as suggested in my instructions to relax stoma.

Everybody was right that I've been reading here -- popsicles are the best!!!

Terrimck1--

Dont sweat the pizza.. you are doing so well with the diet, just a few more days to go. That pizza will be out the system by then. I was having 'last meals' everyday up to two days before surgery. I kept thinking "I wont be able to eat anything every again" well I ended up managing to do liquids for the last two days and the doc still let me do my surgery. I was banded on 11/9, so far all is well. I get a lil hungry, but I am hanging on to the notion that I did this to my body for a reason:rolleyes:

U will do great!

Hi everyone-

I was reborn on November 8th. So far so good. Had the usual gas pains and shoulder pains and a bit of vomiting but now I'm doing quite well. Just starting to want food unfortunately. I wish I had found out about this website before my surgery. It would have been such a big help-you guys don't realize how you help.

I had my surgery done at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. My surgeon was Dr. Tishler.

Thanks for being here-

I'm the type of person that can't wait a week for something, so I checked at Borders and bought it tonight. It was 16.95. I've already looked it over and love it! I can't wait to try the recipes.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
