November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Oh, and JDru...that is wonderful news that your problems were not more serious!! Hopefully you will heal fast and can be on your way to Band Land. Do you have a surgery date yet? Could you maybe make it into the November Bandsters by a "hair", like on the 30th or something?? Keep in touch with us! And Angela, thanks for the wonderful sounding recipe...sounds delicious and like something I would binge on...:faint:Is almond milk a "good for you" food? I don't believe I have ever seen it anywhere. Where do you get it? I can't wait to try this...can we have it soon after banding? Please???

Yes, almond milk is VERy good for you! Low fat, and what it does have it is heart healthy fat; high Protein and low calorie 40cals per 8 oz! :clap2: You can get it at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in the same area as soy milk. Usually more health food oriented stores will carry it!

Hey---does anyone know how to make a list of all the Nov. Bandsters and their surgery dates? Wouldn't it be great if we could make one and were able to send each bandster off with a "Good Luck" on the day before their surgery? I think it would also be great if we could each try to post a quick note here as soon as possible after surgery to encourage the ones coming after. Does anyone else think that is a good idea, or do I just have too much time on my hands right now?? :biggrin1:

Yes, I have a surgery date...Thursday! It's crazy because it's been up in the air for a month and half and all of sudden it's here. I don't think I'm quite prepared. I'm nervous and I can't sleep! But I am ten times more excited to start this new part of my life. I'll just consider myself a cusp Oct/Nov bandster and check both groups! :girl_hug:

I got the results of my camera pill...it's a duodneal ulcer. So, I just have to take Prevacid and that should help. I got the ok for surgery on Thursday!! Which means that I won't be part of the November bandsters. :girl_hug: But I'll definitely check in with you. Good luck to everyone!!

That's great news! I still haven't cleared up my anemia. I'm just popping Iron pills like there's no tomorrow.:)

I am happy to report that I put a stop to my month long eating binge (aka last supper syndrome). I've started tracking my calories on Sparkpeople.com and I'm sticking to a reasonable 1400 calorie a day plan. I've lost 6 pounds this past week.

JDru-I am glad you will be part of both groups!

Karen-I think the list is a great idea... I guess you can just sort through the posts to get the dates...got time?:girl_hug:

Okay ladies, pending nothing goes wrong...looks like I'll just squeeze in with a 11/30 date. Which begs the question...do I have to start my week long fast on THANKSGIVING???? Or, the Friday after???? LOL, I guess it shouldn't matter...

Here's hoping nothing goes wrong and changes it!!!

As I am getting ready for my sugery on November 2nd in Kansas City Missouri. I had to call the hospital for a pre-equal. The nurse was not sure they could do my surgery because my blood sugars have been up. My last A1C (average) was 9.4, which is around 250. That was about 4 weeks ago, so it might be down now and I have to have it retested tomorrow. She said it has to be below 150. Now...I do have a little bit of beef with them because if I had to have my gallbladder removed or something else...they would just do it. I also have to have a EKG now. The doctor didn't order this or say anything about the blood sugars being a problem.

did your doctor or the hospital tell you this?

OK, I only have time for 1 post right now, so I'll squeeze everything in here....

JDru: YEAH!! You get to be the "leader" of the Nov. Bandsters....by going in October!! Good luck tomorrow and remember to report back in ASAP!!

Aza: What is all that Iron doing to your poor stomach? Are you feeling OK? Congrats on getting a handle on the food and losing so much weight in one week---you are on your way!

Chris: If it was me I'd probably eat on Thanksgiving and call it a gift from God! That as well as knowing I won't have to live with the residual calories for more than a few days!! Thanksgiving dinner AND making it under the wire as a November Bandster..... How much better can life get? :biggrin1:

Angela: I was "assuming" that you would want to do the honors, since you seem to be pretty knowledgeble in maneuvering around this forum....:nervous I wish I knew how to do a "poll" type setup with dates for each person to fill in.... Well, maybe later I can see what I can do. (And that will teach me to throw out an idea in hopes someone else will pick up!!! )

Happy "last-5-days-of-the-month" to everyone....it won't be long now!!:clap2:

HELLO Novemebr Bandsters!! NOVEMEBR 13th!! I'm headed south to Mexico. Dr. Rodriquez in Acuna. I have no idea how much I weight. Is that weird? I know I'm a size 22 and that's enough for me, for now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
